The reason why I have combined these in one thread is that they are both through purchases from Buy.com who have been no help at all so far even though the retailer, who uses the reabtes to advertise and sell, clearly has responsibilites here.

I have $28 to come from Coolmax and $50 to come from Connect3D. I am not going to give up and have discovered the following infromation.

Coolmax - $28 rebate for powersupply purchased 2/7/2007

So far they have had 2 s.a.e.s, 2 hard copies, 1 fax and 1 email of all materials. No rebate yet. Complied with every detail of rebate requirements.

Contact is Chris Tse at 909-937-9885 (fax # 909-937-3383)
Company name is Top Tech USA at www.toptechusa.com

Will wait 2 more weeks and then file a BBB and CA D.A. report against TopTech and Buy.com

Connect 3D - $50 for 2GB SD card purchased 2/9/2007

Complied with all details. This company is very evasive and has cut off their toll free line only to give us a prerecorded message about waiting for end of May. They have handed over this rebate to rebate zone. Rebate has been processing for months now...

I have been in contact with their CS manager in the UK and will continue to follow up with him. His name is Graham Ellison. I will talk with him one more time and then post his email for others to bring up the issue with him. I am from the UK and can call over there very inexpensively, no big deal to me at all.

Comments welcome,

For Coolmax Rebates, Chris can also be reached via email at support@coolmaxusa.com

Thanks for posting this. I am still waiting for the $50 Connect 3D rebate. I received a confirmation email back in March with a link to check status and I still keep getting "in process."
Do you know if these are going to come through? Has Buy.com made a decision on how they are going to handle these outstanding rebates?
Please keep us posted on what you find out on this.
Thanks....

Ditto. The phone takes you into an endless loop in which you get no human to talk to. They said that it was sent to a third party clearing house and that we would hear by 5/30. That was yesterday, and I have heard nothing. This is for the $50 rebate on a 2GB SD card from Buy.com.

No word yet from Buy.com other than "we will forward your concern to our rebate department" which is BS in my opinion.

I do plan to report them along with the respective companies to BBB and CA DA very soon now.

Will keep you posted.

I did receive my $29 Coolmax rebate check on 5/14/2007. I submitted it on 2/26/2007.

This was for Coolmax Drive Enclosure purchased from Buy.com.

I have not received my $50 Connect3D rebate for 2GB SD Card.

Claim Status: Received, Submission is being processed.

This status has not changed since April 20, 2007.

I filed a BBB complaint in Santa Clara County on May 14, 2007.

If I do not get a response by June, 13, 2007, I will file a complaint with the CA Attorney General.

I did receive my $28 Coolmax rebate check on 4/30/2007. I submitted it on 2/6/2007.

This was for Coolmax Power Supply purchased from Buy.com.

Good for you....many of us are still waiting. I complied with the letter and they say they never got it. Did you have any trouble at all with this rebate or did it just come as expected. You are rare person if it did.

OK

Connect 3D

I spoke to Graham Ellison in the UK today and I am hopeful that he will help us. I explained that there are many people who feel they are the subject of mail fraud.

Coolmax

No joy from Buy.com.

I am ready to report this to BBB.

Here is a link for you to do this if you want:

Coolmax rebates arrived without any follow up.

Good for you my friend, consider yourself very fortunate...

Today I filed a CA DA complaint against Connect 3D and also Buy.com for the Coolmax rebate, due to being persistently ignored with my requests for assistance. Buy.com still carries many Coolmax products, I am sure that they would pay their rebates in Buy.com threatened to pull all their products!!

Here is the link if you want to file a complain too:

http://ag.ca.gov/contact/complaint_form.php?cmplt=CL

I asked for a copy via email which I then forwarded to Connect 3D and Buy.com respectively

Today I faxed a screen capture of my Connect 3D rebate and a strongly worded note to both the USA and UK (Head) offices telling them I had reported them to the CA Attorney General and BBB. fax numbers are on the web site.

USA fax - 408.441.4633

UK Fax 011441732 462 865

Will report back if I get anywhere.

Thanks for posting. I will stay away from Buy.com and CoolMax and Connect 3D rebate offers thanks to your post. Good luck for getting your money back from these scamsters.

Filed through the CA Attorney General , don't let those scammers get away with this. File your complaints please.

Just filed my complaint with the California AG (already filed with BBB and FTC against Connect3D). I urge everyone to do the same. The url is:
http://ag.ca.gov/contact/complaint_form.php?cmplt=CL

The text of my complaint:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This company (Connect3D) has broken a contract by failing to honor a $50 rebate as per the conditions and time frame specified in their rebate form.

Product Name: Connect3D 2GB 2.0 USB Drive
Product Part Number: C3D 4007
Purchase Location: Buy.com
Purchase Date: 01/25/2007
Order Number: xxxxxxxx
Connect3D Rebate Amount: $50 Check
Connect3D Rebate Claim ID: xxxxxxxx

On 01/30/2007, I mailed my rebate submission to Connect3D for the above mentioned product/rebate offer. On 03/23/2007, I received an email from "Connect3DCustomerService" stating that my rebate has been received and is being processed.

In April, I called their Rebate Center at (408) 441-4632 to check on the status of my rebate. I could never reach an actual live person and the recording on their system stated that the rebates have been outsourced to another company and to allow until April 30th, 2007 for processing.

In May, I called again and this time their recording changed to "allow until May 30th, 2007".

It has now been more than 17 weeks since I mailed my rebate materials to Connect3D (the rebate form stated to allow 10 weeks for processing). I have not received the advertised $50 rebate as of today, June 5th, 2007.

The retailer (Buy.com) has been making empty promises of dealing with the situation and has been of no help at all.

I have copies of all materials sent to Connect3D and I could also provide web addresses to forum threads dedicated to these scams. Please don't hesitate to contact me should you require more information than is included in this complaint.

I would appreciate if this complaint (along with the others that have surely been filed by many other consumers who have been similarly scammed on these rebates) goes to the right person in your organization, and action will be taken against these fraudulent companies.

alike others here..still waiting on $50.

those who received, anyone got their $50 for 2gb Buy.com?

alert mods

I think that Buy.com is incredibly shortsighted. Their ineptness in customer service is alienating many of us for life, not to mention other potential customers who discover these posts online. Moreover, I hold Buy.com responsible for blatantly advertising these rebates to induce sales without proper diligence on their suppliers.

As for Connect3D USA, who knows if it even exists anymore -- it seems like all inventory at online retailers is either out of stock or limited to inventory on hand. Like everyone else, I filed complaints with the BBB, CA Atty General and FTC.

alert mods

I also am waiting on the $50 Connect3D 2 GB SD card rebate. My timeline closely mirrors coolmaxFTW's, although I have done much less follow-up. I'm counting on coolmax's hard work to help us all out!

alert mods

I left a message with the Connect3D president's extension and I contacted Buy.com.

Now I wait. Next stop the credit card company and then the AG of CA.

I've had good luck with State AGs in the past.

I have even had a local detective visit a seller in New York for eBay fraud and it worked! That was last thing the seller expected.

I will update as this plays-out.

I have been in contact with two people at the UK head office of Connect 3D:

Mr. Graham Ellison

gellison@futureupgrades.co.uk

Ms. Karen Bebbington

kbebbington@futureupgrades.co.uk

I have made them well aware of the behaviour of their San Jose office and the size of the problem. Please email them if you wish. I would suggest that if asked you simply say you found their emails on a web site. The more people that complain the more likely we are to get something done about it.

Good luck to us all,
