This offer may not be combined with any other national HP or reseller offers.
Meaning the deal the of the $50 Instant rebate automatically voids the rebate, ilikebtmoney said:Ie: Quill, A matter of Max, Buy.com, etc. ALL OF THEM ARE DOING INSTANT REBATE'S FOR $50 DIRECT THROUGH HP UNLESS THEY'RE SOLD FOR ALMOST NEAR MSRP!!! THE DISTRIBUTORS ONLY HAVE A FEW $$ MARKDOWN ON THIS! as you said yourself...

But define "instant rebate" to sale price. The term instant rebate has become a buzzword that looks good, but makes for a loophole. When I bought mine for example, there was no "instant rebate". It was simply on sale.

HP reserves the right to modify or withdraw this promotion at any time.

This means they can pull the rebate promotion at any time. If they orignally had it slated for 3 months, they can pull it at 1 month if they want to. It's just a "cover your butt" clause in the event that they made an error, or error in judgement on a promotion. BUT if a buyer makes a purchase within the period the rebate was valid, the company is not off the hook for fulfilling their end of the contract.

The only retailer promoting an instant rebate is Newegg. (it showed an instant $55 savings on their order page).

However Amazon and Buy.com simply showed a price with absolutely no mention of any special promotion. I don't think HP can renege on this latest rebate. (at least without a major backlash of consumer ill will).

HP's usually pretty good at designing promo's. However these 1018 rebates are sure blunders.

All HP would have had to do is specify a min. purchase price in the T's and C's.

Mine is showed online, step 1, printer bought in Buy.com, Jun 15th, mailed to norwood, mn.

Preparing for fighting to have it go through.

Bought a few under the S104 rebate.

Interestingly, the link for that rebate goes nowhere. Hope that's not a bad sign.

Does ANYONE here have a S096 PDF they could upload? From what I can tell, it doesn't exist anywhere/been replaced by the STS 07 offer.

I would be HUGELY appreciative.

When I bought this printer in mid-June from A Matter of Fax, there were two rebate coupons available; only one required the original upc. Because of the uncertainty of whether the 50% off rebate would fly, I sent in both.

The STS07 rebate has been approved, while the 50% off rebate has just begun processing.

They both have been posted on the same rebate status web page as follows (sans formatting):

Manufacturer Offer Description Offer Value Date Received
Hewlett-Packard - IPG Commercial 2502 LaserJet 1018 $64.50 MIR (50% off) 50% Off 06/27/2007
Hewlett-Packard S096 STS 07 LJ 1018 MIR $65.00 06/20/2007

For the last poster, S096 appears to be the same as STS07. Go figure.

Bought my printer from Amazon.com. Now rebate is shown up in web-rebates.com, but still processing status.

One of my rebates has changed status to this:

"Your submission has been received. Unfortunately, there was an issue that prevented processing of your rebate. Your will receive more information in the mail with further details and instructions."

It's on! I'm ready to fight!

No fight needed...lol
I called and "I am sending out your check today"

1 down, 1 to go...

my rebate status changes in web-rebates.com today.

An error shows up: Our records indicate that the product purchased reflected a promotional rebate or special pricing.

I bought the printer from Newegg on June 6.

alert mods

Yep.. same story here, purchased from A Matter of Fax. Gotta get on my gloves, I've got some fightin' to do.

alert mods

Initially my rebate showed up as valid on 8/10/07. Now it says invalid becasue of special pricing. Everyone check your rebate on https://www.web-rebates.com not on HP. On the HP site it does not show this error.

alert mods

From Web-Rebates:

Your rebate has completed the first 3 of 5 steps
A check request for $65.00 is being processed.

I bought from Buy.com

woodsley said:what is the link for HP rebate status at web-rebates.com?There is no special link required, just enter you information at web-rebates.com, the HP rebate as well as any other rebates they have processed for you in the past should come up in a list

alert mods

Called them and got shut down. Now what?

alert mods

Your rebate has completed the first 2 of 4 steps
A check request for $64.50 is being processed.

For those that have gone through the process, does this mean I'm out of the woods?

I bought my printer at futurepowerpc (who promised me over the phone that a rebate hadn't previously been submitted).

alert mods

No, mine was like that and then I got the error.
