A check request for $64.50 is being processed.

For those that have gone through the process, does this mean I'm out of the woods?

I bought my printer at futurepowerpc (who promised me over the phone that a rebate hadn't previously been submitted).

Check the status here.
Both of mine were stuck at step 1 for awhile.
Then one changed to "There was a problem with your submission" and I called.
The CSR asked me to verify the serial # and then she approved it on the spot.
Now one rebate is at step 2 and the other is at step 3.
Step 2 on mine says "Your rebate submission has been approved" so I think if you make it past step 1 you are fine.
Just print out the status while it's at step 2. They can't very well say "well, it WAS approved, but now it's not!"

I purchased from Amazon and my status is in step 2:

Your rebate submission has been approved and your rebate check is being processed.

So are they slowly approving some of the rebates for those of you that didn't buy at full price? Over at SD some people are getting their checks.

Same problem for me. I originally purchased from Quill. Now on quill.com it says "Now Only $79.98 NO FURTHER REBATES OR DISCOUNTS APPLY" However, I don't recall this wording when i bought the printer. Did anyone take a screenshot from quill that doesn't have this wording. I talked to HP and quill and both were unable to do anything. I guess it's time for some BBB, CA AG, and FTC complaints.

I bought mine from AmazZon on 7-29-07, received it 8-1-07, and sent the rebate 8-16-07. Here's my stats as of today:

HPp tracking shows step 2(Your rebate submission has been approved and your rebate check is being processed.).

WebRebates shows step 3(Required Validation Period), and was received 8-20-7.

Here's hoping I(and the rest of us) don't have to fight(much?) for this legitimate rebate. The last AwfulOffice Depot rebate battle really burned me out.

Good luck to ALL of us, and lets keep this thread going until everyone gets their rebates(except that greedy person who bought 10 printers).

What did you do when Office Depot denied your rebates?

alert mods

I bought mine from CircuitCity (79.99) and submitted 2502 rebate in the middle of June. web-rebates.com shows now "Our records indicate that the product purchased reflected a promotional rebate or special pricing." I called, was shut down, but got Office of President address to appeal. I am going to submit the appeal after I receive mailed confirmation of rejected rebate. BBB goes next in my list.

My Amazon purchase rebate is showing no errors as of now on web-rebates.

I called the rebate service center and asked what the problem was- as it was a valid rebate. She just asked for the serial # of the hard drive, and then approved it. I think the initial denial was just a tactic to get out of the rebate because many people just don't follow up... they give up without even calling and pleading/fighting their case. But that's just my opinion on some denials by rebate centers... I think they get commissions when saving companies' rebate refunds.
??

For those whose rebate got rejected, please write a letter to HP Corporate and file a complaint with BBB and FTC. Below is the letter I used the format from ConsumerAffairs.Com and wrote to HP Corporate this morning. BBB and FTC complaints are next.

RE: Failure to Receive Promotional Rebate

August 28, 2007

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing you to file a complaint regarding my recent rebate denial. I purchased a HP LaserJet 1018, on 06/01/2007 at Newegg.com. My decision to purchase this product was based upon your offer of a mail-in rebate of USD$64.50 (offer# 2502). My purchase of the product constituted my acceptance of your offer, creating a binding and enforceable contract between us.

I have performed my obligations under the contract. As per your rebate form, I will get the $62.50 rebate for the HP LaserJet 1018 if, (1) the purchase is made between 05/01/2007 and 06/30/2007; (2) the rebate submission is postmarked and received within 45 days. I made my purchase that met all the aforementioned conditions and then proceeded to fill in the rebate form provided by you. I included all information requested to process my rebate, but my rebate is now being rejected with a vague reason, “Our record indicate that the product purchased reflected a promotional rebate or special pricing.” The reason of the rebate denial is unacceptable since, (1) minimum price requirement is not a condition on your rebate form; (2) the merchant Newegg.com did not offer me any promotional rebate or special pricing at the time I made the purchase. It is nowhere such a promotional rebate or special pricing can be found on the sales invoice. As an end-user consumer, I would not know if HP offers their authorized sellers to sell their products at a special price. This is between HP and Newegg.com.

I respectfully request you to immediately re-process my rebate and mail the rebate check of USD$64.50 to me at the address indicated within 30 days. I have re-attached all information originally sent for your convenience.

If I do not receive payment in full by 09/30/2007, I will begin legal proceedings against you and will file complaint reports with the Federal Trade Commission, Better Business Bureau, the Attorneys General of the states of New York and California, as well as selected consumer advocacy publications and local and state consumer affairs departments.

I am sending copies of this letter to these agencies and organizations to encourage your compliance. I am also filing a report with ConsumerAffairs.com for inclusion on their Web site.

Thank you for your prompt attention and resolution of this matter.

Sincerely,

Mine now showed Error(s): Submission did not include a copy of an itemized dated sales receipt or packing slip. What numbers that you guys call to fix this? I did not receive any mail saying my rebate submission was invalid. Thanks

alert mods

After over two months of waiting, here is what I get

"Your submission has been received. Unfortunately, there was an issue that prevented processing of your rebate. Your will receive more information in the mail with further details and instructions."

If I know it was going to have problem, I won't buy this printer.

edit: I bought it from Neweggs if it matters.

My 2502 rebate (from June) is not valid necasue of special pricing. However S104 (July-Aug) is valid!!
I purchased both from Newegg for $79.99!!

Does not make sense!

alert mods

Got "Your rebate check has been approved and will be mailed to you shortly"
for both:

2502, purchased 6/2 from Amazon
S104, purchased 8/1 from CompSource

rebate status shows S104 offer amount $64.50.
But, 2502 says 50%. So, not complaining, but maybe
check will be for 50% of my Amazon purchase price
not the full $64.50?
-----------------
update 9/1, got checks - the 2502 was in fact for
$64.50 (not just 50%).

Watch out on this one! I have the same issue (received a check for one, but lost out on 2502), but noticed in the rebate fine print that if they determine they sent a check in error, they will "require the claimant to return the rebate amount."

That definitely puts a damper on calling to complain that they have approved one but not the other - they may just cancel both and take back their money

Be careful!
