thought it is time to start a thread--and maybe we are going to see a bunch of "didnt get the rebate..." posts (aka Connect 3d) if CompUSA goes belly up...

I stopped buying anything with a rebate from them. Anybody else thinking about this?

any news from CompUSA about their closing? What about the rebates?

I also just read the news. I recently bought several items from CompUSA with rebates. I don't think they are going to honor the rebates. What does everyone else think?

alert mods

why the news did not come out before black friday.

I submitted online rebate and within minutes it says its approved and will send me visa gift card after return period is expired.

I think I will return the FAR CompUSA stuff I purchased last week as I think we will not get the rebates paid.

Aren't the new CrapUSA buyers responsible for all rebates, service plans, and warranties?

We need to start a thread requesting people who have outstanding "erebates" posting when they submitted and when received. If people are no longer receiving any CompUSA rebates they need to contact their credit cards while CompUSA's doors are still open.

This is not a blanket "you will not get paid" issue. Non-erebates are not an isssue since they will be manufacturer. Hopefully the erebates system will not be shut down (it is run by a 3rd party) and manufacturers rebates can be paid.

By the time we know for sure that the rebates will not be paid, it would be well past the dispute deadlines.

And I remember reading here that Discover and may be some other CC do not accept disputes for non-receipt of rebates.

Edited to add the last paragraph.

I guess all that money they saved not paying off those Kaspersky rebates last year wasn't enough to save their business.

Wouldn't it be funny if Kevin Hain has trouble getting his severance package and they just send him the same stupid cut and paste email replies he sent us? "Yes, those who properly requested their severance package will
receive theirs." "Again, there will be no monies provided for those requesting severance packages."

My guess is, since he's with corporate, he'll most likely walk away well-provided for. But still, knowing the free market clipped an operation that treated us so shamelessly makes me feel less of a sucker.

Website doesn't work and my approved rebate changed to not approved? Looks like it's time to start with the complaints.

Does it give a reason for being invalid?

There appears to be two rebate sites that are similar. One does not work for me and one does. Here is the one that works:

https://erebates.compusa.com/default.aspx

I have received my five rebates and the site shows as paid.
