Anyone have any good ideas about how to turn Symantec debit cards into cash? I don't want to have to buy something to use the cards up, I want to deposit the value in the bank. I have ~50 of these stupid cards to use up. Any ideas?

I don't want to buy groceries or gas with them, I use 5% Cash Back cards for those. Plus it's annoying to try to buy exactly $xx worth of gas.

What I do is pay my cable bill and cell phone bill with each one. Two bills that have to be paid otherwise by cash, but I have the same issue as you!

You have no choice. Either use it to lose it.

I know you've been able to call the number on the back of the card and ask them to send you a check. Not sure if you can still do that, but it's worked for me in the past. Takes a few weeks.

If you have done ~50 of these rebates, you either should know how best to use them or don't buy the products with cash card rebates.

For me, I use it for everyday pruchases. if there is some small balance, I use it up by paying my cell phone bill with it. My carrier will take partial payment of less than $2.00.

Thank you for that helpful comment. I have done hundreds of these rebates and I normally use these stupid debit cards to pay my eBay seller fees - which run $500-$1000/month over the winter. Now it's summer and eBay is slowing down so I have a backlog of cards to use. I bought a HD camcorder from Amazon with some of them but there's not much else I need just now. I get a discount on my cellular bill for charging it to my AMEX so I don't want to use them for that. I just want the cash

you could always paypal someone you trust if you don't mind losing 3%...all about personal choice

Yes I had thought of, and am considering, PayPal. I was hoping for a better idea

Is Amazon payments still free?

Looks like they charge 2.9% of the transaction value plus 30 cents.

I use them to load a WalMart gift card.

You may use it to purchase things in places that refund in cash. For instance, order placed at Costco.com accepts Master, Visa, or Discover. Returning items to Costco B&M will give you back cash since they only take American Express in store. I have also returned a gift to REI store and they can credit the amount back to any of my credit cards.

I do have to agree that those kind of remarks are never helpful to an OP. Wish we could avoid them.

THAT SAID, I very much dislike Symantec's debit card rebate program, but I do use their products and am not about to forgo my rebate. I have used their Debit Card to buy a Gift Card for the same amount to a store I shop all the time. Then, next visit, I use the gift card and it's like getting the entire balance as cash toward my purchase. I used to scratch my head about this also as I don't want to have to make a purchase of something I don't need just to get my rebate and I don't want to spend less than what is on the card and forget the small remaining balance as I think that's what their hoping for.

I truly feel the entire "Debit Card Rebate" trend is done just in hopes people won't redeem them or will always leave small balances on the card since it's too hard to spend the exact amount and the issuer will get to take back that money. I was peeved because Symantec originally claimed this switch was made due to "customer requests" and they were full of it!

I go through 1 out of the 3 below:

a. cell phone (i try online first, if that doesn't work, then I walk across the street to the store to pay that way)
b. put the amount on the WalMart giftcard to later use at sam's club.
c. if the amount is really nasty, then i use up the lose change at the post office at the counter (I try to avoid getting to this point, because it's really annoying when the clerk is not sure)
