Well, it's been over 3 weeks since Parago (the rebate processor in this case) has deemed my rebate "valid". They have not responded to my e-mails. I do many rebates and am a strong believer that ANY rebate can be paid in just a few weeks in 2008. Any longer and it's the rebate processor sitting on the float of the money or not being properly staffed to handle the rebates they have coming in. SO, to make a point, I just filed a complaint with BBB.org. Maybe I pulled the trigger a little early, but I want my $150 and something on file officially that Parago is waiting almost a month after confirming the rebates are valid and still not mailing checks. Who knows, maybe it will get me my $150 a little faster and get them to speed up some other checks.

I was 90% sure I would get my check eventually. However, while I do many rebates, I will fail to understand (and it's a pet peeve of mine) that rebate processing companies think 8, 10 or even 12 weeks is an acceptable period to mail a rebate check.

I know some of them have to wait for funding from the manufacturer to cut the checks. I realize that in this case, you had to have active TiVo service for 30 days for the rebate to be valid. However, there is no valid reason why Parago could not cut and mail checks within ONE WEEK of the rebate being valid. We're dealing with TiVo here, not some fly by night manufacturer.

There is no reason why Parago needs a month after a rebate is considered valid to mail a check. None. The only reason would be that they get the money from TiVo and then stash it in an account for 30 days to benefit from the interest they earn before they actually mail the payments.

So, I just rattled the cage a little to make a point. Maybe it was a waste of time.
