Trying to decide which Roku to get and I see the 2XS recommended a lot b/c of the better remote.
I am not buying the basic model b/c I want the better video quality - but will I notice a difference with the 1080P...what content will this upgrade show a noticeable difference?
I also want the XS b/c it comes with the USB port. I had thoughts about using this to download some video onto a small hard drive & not have to drag my laptop over to the tv area and worry about tripping on the cord and watching my laptop go flying onto the hardwood floor.
My tvs are only 26" and 32" and I'm not a large screen tv person so I don't see myself upgrading anytime soon, if ever. My tv's are 3 years old Panasonic Viera HDTV,if that info helps

26" and 32" HDTVs are typically only 720p (or 1366x768). So 1080p wouldn't be directly visible on the TVs, as they'd be downconverting it to 720p. Double check the model numbers for the TVs you have to see what their native resolution is.
The one thing that might benefit from 1080p is that they may look better than a 720p stream on a 720p TV due to a higher bitrate, so the downcoverted 1080p stream looks better than the 720p stream. This is hypothetical though, and you may not notice the difference even if there is one.
What services are you looking to use on the Roku? Netflix? Hulu?

I looked up my 26" and its 720....I had asked so many questions before I bought these 2 tvs, I don't know how I ended up with the lower resolution.
I guess I didn't need the 2XS, but I got it on sale and I know it has a better remote.
Do you know anything about the question I asked about the USB port - can I take something on a portable drive and plug it into the Roku and make it easier to view than hooking up my laptop to the tv and one day tripping on the cord?
I plan to use it for Netflix, possibly Amazon Prime also.

Yes, it can playback certain video types from a hard drive plugged into the USB port.
