Some DVD-ROM drives allow you to do this for a limited time. Like the first 5 plays. After that it is locked. There are various firmware's and other things that you can download that will make your DVD player region free. These aren't reliable though, they void your warranty and may kill your drive.

sometimes. And it can be quite easy, depending on the DVD player. As easy as entering a key sequence into your remote.

Would suggest that you look to set your DVD player to Region 0. Region 0 (zero) is region free. otherwise, you will get locked out after a number of changes.

Google with: region free dvd hack Then look for, or qualify your search, with your DVD player's model number

You can do it by firmware for a permanent solution if you can find one for your model. I did this once and it works fine. Another option is a software solution. I believe AnyDVD will do this and remove encryption too, but its not freeware.

God Bless You

An excellent one to hack is the $35 Cyberhome DVD player that Target sells. This unit works great and is not much bigger than a large paperback book. I got the hack off that videohelp site referenced earlier.

How they can sell this for $35 beats me. Full featured, solidly made, and fits in a pocket of my backpack.

some daewoo models are not only region-free, they also can play PAL on NTSC and NTSC on PAL. So one can use European or Asian DVDs with American TVs.
