Which file system is best for SuSE 10.0? I will put it on a spare drive with XP.PRO already install on it. Here are my specs.

MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum Ultra nForce4 bios v1.8
Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego Core
Mushkin PC3200 LII V2 1GB (2x512MB) XP3200
2-36GB Raptors Raid0
160GB Seagate SATA With NQC
Powercolor R43CA-GD3D Radeon X800 GT Bravo Edition PCI-EX 256MB DDR3
Z-Alien Case
Ultra X-Connect 500W ATX PSU
XP.Pro.W/SP.2

for reliability: ext3
for speed: reiserfs (as long as you don't keep the file-system over 90% full)
if you're daring: xfs

since you have a large disk, I would put a mix of different file-systems on there

/ = ext3
/boot = ext2
/home = reiserfs
/usr = ext3

Thanks legzakimbo.

np - if you'll be dual-booting, there is a plugin for total-commander on windows that lets you read reiserfs/ext* file-systems.

On the linux side, ntfs read support is rock solid, write support works with captive-ntfs but with a couple of caveats (speed being the main one)
