I must admit i am not very skilled with linux yet, i am just learning my way around, so i am either looking for a guide to installing apps, or the applications themselves in a format where i do not need to compile a load of source code. I am looking specifically for webcam software, games, codeing software (lpc), or other fun things
thanks all in advance

best place to start is freshmeat.net

It usually comes with source code (to compile from source) and maybe RPMs/.deb/ebuild depending on the developer.

edit: why don't you want to compile? It's usually just:

./configure && make
make install

if you don't delete the files, you can uninstall whatever you installed with:
make uninstall

It's hard to provide a conclusive guide because each developer might want to do things differently

hmm i didnt know it was that easy, ok thanks

that will work for you most of the time... but usually there's a README file in the tar.bz file if it's different.

You'll definitely find some good stuff at sourceforge.net.

As for compiling, I'm afraid that's really the only way you'll be able to get the binaries...
As for games...well, I haven't found too many games for linux (that I liked). I installed windows and dual-booted to take care of that problem though.
