I say you don't need to be an IT to be able to find out and/or use whois. Letting anyone know you have a 25-yr IT experience and fails to do a whois definitely is like telling the world you have a Lexus but can't drive it for any reason. |

What's the point of this post? Just curious... I guess, I'll throw out "In for one"... or "attaboy"...
The irony is that there was absolutely no point to your post(s), dude. I guess that's lost on a Canadian knuckle head. If you were trying to convey that a "thanks OP" didn't contribute to the thread in any meaningful way, how is it any of your posts did?
To question a "Thanks OP" vs. the many "wow, I'm downloading at a great rate!" type posts? Interesting...
The fact is, I (and presumably others) are not bothered by any of them. I somehow manage to quickly scan over those posts to ones that have substantive info that I might need. It's an acquired talent, to be sure.
With that, I say, THANKS OP! |

What's the point of this post?
In general, it helps to keep good and recent hot deals at the top of the forums, which personally, I find useful.
Oh and thanks OP |

Free bean-counting software scattered CHICAGO, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Microsoft Corp. distributed a new accounting software Monday in a Chicago suburb by leaving the program on people's lawns.
Tiny parachutes, about 2,000 of them, covered the southwestern suburb. The parachutes are attached to free copies of Microsoft Office Accounting Express 2007 financial management software.
Microsoft is offering the software for business startups and small business owners.
Willow Springs Building Commissioner George Kucharchuk said the village board approved the promotion and though police and the mayor were aware of the plan, residents and other city officials were not, WBBM-AM, Chicago, said.
It was unclear exactly how the software was distributed. Kucharchuk said despite the parachutes, he thinks the disks were tossed from a moving car because in places, they landed in a straight line. Link |

Ok, this will probably seem like a dumb question to you Computer Geeks, but....when I set up the software, I got a message that Requires .NET framework 2.0 to be installed. Click OK to install. So I let the program install that, and it said By default the Setup Wizard will install Microsoft SQL Express It installed Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express (MSSMLBIZ) on my machine (which is running Windows XP). After that, the Office Accounting software proceeded smoothly. You do get a Product Key and can register it online right away if you want. My question is...what is Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express and why did I need it? |

It's a "lite" version of Microsoft's SQL Server Database application. You need to store your accounting data somewhere. |

Not sure if this is mentioned yet but the Express version definitely is express.
IF you are going to use this for inventory(or for any reasonable business use) you need to upgrade to their professional version.
So basically the software is useless for small businesses unless you upgrade.
Worthless for most, another microsoft scam. |
