Well, I have it installed, and I am underwhelmed. The interface is nice, but the features that are disabled make it pretty much unusable. I think I would have rather had a 30 day fully functional trial instead. Too bad that there is absolutely zero physical inventory capability--maybe if they limited it to 20 items or so in order to give you a taste of what it could do it would have been more effective. As it stands, it is ok to play around with, but definitely way too limited to be of any use. Just my 2 cents.

also, this program, unlike ms money, does not support statement/transactions downloading. so that means you have to go to your bank's website download a copy of the statement, then import it into the appropriate account. AMEX and discover might be an exception because they both naively support downloading transactions. for other banks, ms money uses Yodlee. for me, i think the advantage of syncing transaction is a big thing though.. but i was just playing with the express version, maybe the professional version might support this?

Of course....but its also your choice whether you want to try it or not. No one is forcing you to try it...so in other words, it depends on how smart you are

Just an an FYI at a convenient point in this discussion thread, meant for anyone who has just installed SQL Server and .NET Framework 2.0 for the first time, and who may be new to such installations:

There are high-priority security fixes available from Microsoft for both these downloads (SQL Server and .NET Framework) via Windows Update. These fixes must be installed after the product installations. So, because these fixes address security risks, you might want to go ahead and manually run Windows Update, even if you have it set to periodically install critical updates automatically.

Disclaimers:

    (1) This information is not directed to any member in particular, and is not meant to insult anyone. I realize it will be "old news" to a number of members -- but it may be useful to others.

    (2) Install these fixes at your own discretion. So far, I've had no problems with these fixes, but I haven't really done anything to test them, either, and I did not research them (my bad). As several readers of this thread can attest -- and explain more skillfully than I can -- it is always good to take steps that will let you easily restore your previous enviornment, before installing new software or patches. Such steps might include, for example, setting a Restore Point before installing any new software or patch.

Most people that want to use it for business, should try out MS SB Accounting. Its the first good version since they bought Great Plains Software way back in the day. I like it, and I'm not really that big a fan of MS products.

Might be worth you looking into if this setup doesn't blow your skirt up. I think its around $149 retail, coupons will help that obviously.
