Mine came today.
Really disappointed - using the tiny QWERTY keyboard is hard, the street names can't be seen at a distance and simply asking like, where's the closet McDonalds is not only time consuming but hard with the tiny buttons and multiple screens.
Gets fantastic reception clear through most of my home, and the shirt pocket size is great.
Nevertheless, tempted to send it back. I've been spoiled by the Garmin's large keys and more intuitive interface. |

I'm new to GPS's too, but so far love the MIO 310x. Just wondering if there is any other forum for the MIO that anyone is aware of?
Thanks |

If there is any chance that you might want to sell it, I might be interested. Send me a PM if you do. |

Is there a way to change the phrases - ie "prepare to leave highway" and phrases like that are kinda annyoing.
I must be using mine wrong. Is it a multistep process though several screens to program a destination?

But I know of no one that has done this yet. There is a text file in the same folder as the voice files that looks like can be edited to do this. You should also just be able to record you own voices to say whatever you want.

Hmmm... Something went wrong during my hack... I couldn't get anything to work. I had to manually recopy everything over ie. explorer, maps, voice etc.
Now its working but the photo doesn't work and video doesn't work either. I'm thinking of just hard resetting (will this work?) or just take it back to CC for an exchange.
Btw, how do you hard reset and what types of video files work with this GPS? |

i use winampQ for mp3/ogg etc audio and TMPGNC .81 BETA for pretty much everything mpeg-4.
i'm gonna try iguidance 3.0 and tomtom6.02 versus IGO and see what works best.
it really is THAT simple to hack your c310 if you follow the steps on gpspassion by the book.

OK, how is this restored to factory settings using the disk that came with it?
I was reading the PDF manual with the USB cable connected to charge the battery and must have clicked on something that zapped it. I get the MP3, settings and mio map page at startup, but the mio map page doesn't start anything. Nor does the side switch that homed the device, nor does the slide switch on the bottom restore it.
Must be something on the disk that'll restore the settings. Tried a few programs at random, nothing helped.
Did I trash the unit? |

its not much different than a pc.
if you remove explorer.exe from your pc you won't be happy either lol.
tomtom 6 works great.

If I knew what I did, it'd be a lot easier to get back.
How's one restore the thing using the disk that came with it?

That's silly, why would a stock car need a GPS system? They only go around in circles. |

I believe if you power off/on using the On/off button in the bottom of the unit (u need a ball pen) it will restore itself to the original installation.
Or you can use the software CD that does the restore as well. |

Or you can use the software CD that does the restore as well.Actually, a hard reset will restore all the OS files that you added or overwrote in to the system directories. This will make the OS (Windows CE) back to stock. However this will not put MioMap back to stock (if you messed with that).
To put MioMap back to stock, you need to use the DVD to reload the application, and I believe you also need to restore the maps from DVD because I think restoring the application also wipes out the maps. |

ChmeeeeTDI said:How are people doing with the mount for this thing? The suction cup on mine has a tendency to lose grip all of a sudden, with no rhyme or reason to how frequently. Sometimes it will do it twice in five minutes, other times it will survive two consecutive thirty minute trips. Its not the force of the driving, because I can tear around one corner and have it hold on tight, but then other times just give it a little gas in top gear on the highway and have the thing land on the floor. Try wetting the ring a little with clean water. Should hold longer |

anyways you guys notice the 710x is the same thing?? someone open theirs up.
I bet you could probably run 710x firmware on this.
The C310X and C710 are almost the same unit but not exactly. The C710 has more features than the C310X. In particular the 3 big key differences are
C310X Bluetooth capability: No
TMC Receiver: No
ROM memory: 1GB(most units on BF), 2GB(few units, rebranded C310)
C710 Bluetooth capability: Yes
TMC Receiver: Yes(Built-in)
ROM memory: 2GB (standard) |
