I'm going to try it on an old PC which runs (Microsoft) Windows 2000 Pro, because Microsoft's (free) anti-spyware program Windows Defender, only runs on Win XP and Vista now.
To get a Pro version for free you need to accept one of their partners offers. Usually a trial of some sort (like DL 25 mp3 for free, etc). Otherwise it's $27. That is crap. No deal.

Not that you'd want to run Windows Defender anyway. I've had to remove infections on two PCs within the last week that had Defender running on them. Adaware may be the better option.

That is another option. Follow the link OP gave. Click on it to download and select the optiion to download at the next sscreen. They try to get you to upgrade, but the free version is still there with no offers needed.
the free version is enough especially since the added a real time protection..the free version is the real deal
