so if a motherboard has a slim slot soldered to it will the gobi 2000 unlocked work on pcie slot and with any carrier ???

I have an acer aspire one with an option to solder a sim slot and a pcie slot. will my system be ready for a mobi 2000 module.

BTW does anybody know the possible pricing of this mobi 2000 module ???

thanks in advance !!!

It should. As with any hardware device though, there may be unknown hardware or software conflicts.

I do notice that Acer offers a gobi card as an option for its Acer Aspire One:

Note that the Gobi 2000 is now the "older" 2nd-generation device. Option has since release 3rd and 4th generation wireless cards, the most recent being the GTM-382

You are telling that gobi 2000 is a 2nd generation card. But i thought it to be the latest one.
Basically i was sought of interested in this particular card because i think it works on both GSM as well as CDMA(ev-do) platforms. so that i will have more options to use sims from either of the platforms.

i have checked the GTM382 but it seems to be on GSM alone, there is no mention of CDMA(EV-DO) technology on its specifications tab.

with so many protocols supported by Gobi 2000(including the ones listed for GTM 382) i was convinced that the Gobi 2000 was the latest in list.

Unless you are a techy who may understand more than a layman thats me

If you know how to read the various protocols, i would appreciate if you'd suggest me a card that would work on both CDMA(EV-DO) platforms as well as on GSM platforms. Because in our region the 3G on GSM is not yet live but CDMA(EV-DO) is already operational.

thanks in advance.

It appears that you're right, the GTM-382 doesn't support EV-DO.
