Woot Acer T180 w/ MCP61M-AM-6A61KE11C-00 bios Foxconn Bios instead?

According the this site

http://bios-repair.co.uk/ref/macercr.htm

The Acer T180 that I have uses a 'common' board
Model
MCP61SM-AM

Do you know this board well? I want to add USB Boot capability to it.

----
It's a long shot. I don't even know if the Foxconn similar or equal board has USB boot capability which
is what I'm after.

That Long ID came from a nice program that will BACKUP YOUR BIOS <== do it by the way.

Here's the program to do that.

AcerSite-acerpanam.com/synapse/forms/

While that is an ACER site they have the Winflash program inside the zip file called

AST180-R1B1.zip

You 'll see Winflash inside the zip , inside the first zip.

Then simply do this

Alt F /
Save Old Bios

Save it and then you can bring it back .. even if you simply change something and forgot what you
did. You can use Winflash to bring back the old bios. I used something like this for years when
I had a low CMOS battery. I simply ran the program and reloaded my backup bios everytime I
turned on the computer. It was not as hard as it sounds.

Till I got the new battery I had no problems with getting my bios back even though I had changed
some settings.

OK -
back to the task at hand.

I want to see if I can add USB BOOTING to my Acer T180. But I need to know first if I can
recover my Bios via booting from , maybe, DOS. I don't think Winflash runs in DOS.

So
1. I need a better program that runs in DOS in case I try to flash my ROM and it fails.

2. I need expert advice from anyone who might have tried to add USB BOOTING to Acer T180 Desktop.
If you have and it's on forum could you link us all to it? I'm sure every Wooter wants to know. ; )

Thanks a lot. I trawl through the forums and look for 0 replies and try to help. i hope you'll take
the advice when you want to give back.

Hi there,

We have an Acer T180. We dug around the internet for a while. While the corresponding foxconn oem board's bios will flash onto the Acer T180 board, and give you the features of the Acer, (overclocking etc), it screws up the ACPI badly. After "shutting off" the pc, the fans continue whirring. The fans whir at top blast speed and noise, and you can't change it. I wouldn't use the foxconn oem bios on the acer.
