Finally, after months of delays, Intel announced that they are delaying the incorporation of USB 3 on their motherboards by up to a year.

Asus stepped in, and has released the card above. It incorporates USB 3 and SATA 3 (6 GB/s) onto the PCI Express card. Asus is shipping out the cards to retailers now, and they are expected to show up for sale online in the next 7 to 10 days. Expected retail price is $29.

I quick google'd a search on USB 3.0 hard drives and they will be available around the same time as this card it looks. Not cheap but the speeds are WAY faster. I also like the fact that 3.0 has higher power output so less things will need dedicated power.
I don't know if I can post the wiki link but http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Serial_Bus

WoW! that's a huge news. I am about to upgrade my desktop from an aging s939 system and was looking for a possible replacement platform. Now, I must wait for the mobo manufacturers for new mobo with USB3.0 support. With new crop of multi Tb hard drives, USB3.0 will be must have.

If you keep waiting for the next new thing to come out in computers you will never get a new computer because there is always something that is about to come out.

Besides general agreement with LordB, I would also like to point out that you should compare speeds of those multi-TB drives to USB2.0 throughput. Also look for articles on Intel and USB 3.0, the future is not quite here and it doesn't sparkle all that much either.
