I do not see the command in windows media player to import.

Or do I just go to my documents and just copy the music files over to the windows media player folder?

You want to 'Add to Library' (F3 is the shortcut key). Then add the folders where those music files are located as watched folders.
One thing I like about Windows Media Player 11 is that you can view your library in a folder view.
