My long time desktop has died. Now, I used thunderbird to access my charter mail using pop. Is there another eMail program I may want to use on my new pc?
I personally would switch to gmail and forgo all of those programs. I used thunderbird for quite a while, but compared to gmail on the normal web it is pretty inconvenient.
Switching emails was somewhat of a pain, but I am glad i did it. I kept running into problems where thunderbird would forget what it had downloaded and dl everything again and it just got far too painful.
I do use gmail for some eMail. However I like the pop mail service I can do with charter, to me much more conveneant to have all 5 eMail accounts with them viewable on one page. I guess I will stick with Thunderbird.
The 5 email thing was what i had... junking them all or forwarding them to gmail really was worth it though it wasn't exactly simple.

I 2nd the Gmail recommendation. There is no limit on "folders"/labels and auto-organizing emails into its appropiate folder/label in Gmail. Plus now you have Google Wave to be associated with one's Gmail account. Another option (not free, though) is atmail.com .
Anyone know how to transfer one's Yahoo E-mail Accounts easily and quickly all while keeping the formating and preferably automatically sorting them into new folders/labels?
With POP, every time you download emails to a client, they are deleted off server. With IMAP, emails are kept on server.
This works nicely when you want to check your emails from multiple machines.
In my case, I use Evolution on my desktop and Thunderbird on my netbook to check Gmail account at home. But when I am at work, I use the web client to check the same Gmail account. I can do that because everything gets synchronized.
