I am already a silver member and I have a four week stay upcoming. Get I get a new membership and then transfer the Gold Status to my existing Silver account? Also, Can I get triple miles on Emirates? As they have an option as to what Airlines miles you can earn.

call them and ask them if you can combine your wife / gfs account with yours.

Applied last week, had no account with them before and as of today I could create a login with the account number that came in the email last week. It now shows:

did you change your airline to KLM like it said to or did you put in a different miles number with a different carrier?

Mine came preset with Airfrance, which was ok since I am collecting my Skyteam miles with them (but have no status).

When does your Gold Membership expire?

How many miles did you have with KLM/Air France?

Your account shows gold status even before you actually stayed the one night?

I don't see anywhere where it says when the status expires. It's different than the Hilton or SPG website.

I had some 25k miles with AirFrance, but I don't think that mattered as I had no status.

And yes, I have never stayed a night at a Marriott, but I have an upcoming trip soon and will make sure I am staying this time in one of their properties to check it out.

Unless you requalify, your elite status expires on Feb 28 of the following year.

Thanks bozo007. I signed up, guess I'll see what happens.

Seekingsun- you said it takes about a week to setup the account once they email you the number?

I received my number instantly but for account login you have to wait for an email inviting you to create the account (2 days later). I now have Gold status!

I forgot to ask, how do we know which 2,800 Marriott hotels are participating in the "stay 1 night, get free gold status" deal? Is there a list somewhere? Can we go somewhere cheap, like a Courtyard or Residence Inn?

Snap, just received the Marriott email today, setup my account, and voila, I'm Marriott gold!

My account says Gold status already so I dont think there is any need to stay at any hotels. Just continue using your membership to enjoy the benefits of Gold (i.e. free breakfast, desserts etc at Concierge level at select hotels) when staying there.

I just got a new gold membership card in the mail, they kept my old number from silver membership and just sent me a gold membership card instead! I was wondering how I was going to combine the two, and Marriott was on the ball and did it for me.

Thanks, this will come in handy!

Where does it say you must be Flying Blue elite? I signed up for Flying Blue, then followed the link. Their mileage program seems pretty comparable to others.

Ditto

I used the same address but different email for the new account and after about 5 days they went ahead and merged the new Gold account with my old Silver account and voila, I was instantly Gold! I just had to request a new password and then revert my email back to the old one in my profile.

Already used it for two nights for a free upgrade to concierge floor room and the concierege breakfast! many thanks to OP!
