Hi

I'm not sure if this belongs in the "Official Hertz Discount Codes and Coupons" thread, but I figured this might merit it's own thread.

Off the promotions page on Hertz, they are having a 50% off weekend rental promotion from airports and Hertz Local locations.

Here's some text from the page:

Save 50% off your weekend rental at Hertz Airport and Hertz Local Edition® locations. Offer valid now through 6/30/08.

• Airport locations: Rent an Economy through Full-Size vehicle (Use PC#104182)

• Hertz Local Edition locations: Rent an Economy through Full-size or Midsize SUV vehicle (Use RQ FIFTY)

When using your affiliate program Discount ID (CDP#) with these offers, you will receive the 50% discount plus other renter benefits available through your organization's/company's program with Hertz, not including additional discounts.

Terms and Conditions:
• Advance reservations are required, as blackout periods may apply.
• Subject to availability, this offer is redeemable at participating airport and off airport locations in Canada and at participating Hertz airport locations in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, excluding the NY Metro area, NY State and Hawaii. Hertz Local Edition offer is available at participating U.S. locations.
• Airport offer applies to Standard and Leisure Weekend rentals and requires a 2-day minimum keep.
• Hertz Local Edition offer applies only to three-day Standard and Leisure Weekend rentals starting Friday and ending Monday. A Saturday night keep is required.
• This offer has no cash value, may not be used with Tour Rates or Insurance Replacement Rates and cannot be combined with any other certificate, voucher, offer or promotion.
• Hertz age, driver, credit and weekend rate qualifications for the renting location apply and the car must be returned to that location.
• Taxes, tax reimbursement, age differential charges, fees and optional service charges, such as refueling, are not included.
• Discounts apply to time and mileage charges only.
• Offer valid for vehicle pickup through 06/30/08.

This worked great for me at LAS and LAX.

As jlawrence01 pointed out, the link is still active (even though it says expires 6/30/08).
If you try the promo code, the Hertz website will quote you a final total 50% off the normal rate. Whether this will be honored at the counter, I do not know, but for those risk takers out there, this could be intriguing.

50% off weekends extended past June 2008 at Orbitz

I was able to make a Hertz Local Edition® reservation at Orbitz yesterday for the Friday 18 July to Monday 21 July weekend with what I'm confident is an updated Hertz 50% off promotion. When I went to the Hertz website to view my reservation – I saw the rate code (RQ) FIFTY2. I wasn’t able to book any subsequent reservations at the Hertz website with this RQ – so perhaps it’s an Orbitz exclusive for now. The rate I was able to secure at Orbitz was lower than the rate I was able to book at the Hertz website. Excerpt of e-mail I requested from Hertz reservations:

"Rate Information: Rate Code: FIFTY2
Base Amount: 3 at 18.49 UNLIMITED
Corporate/Association (CDP) Plan: 1659770
THE RATE HAS BEEN DISCOUNTED BY 10 %
Vehicle: ( ECAR ) ECONOMY CAR
Travel Agency: Orbitz
Renting City: AUSTIN"
(the estimated rate is $16.64/day after the 10% discount)

Last night, I booked a Megabus ticket Chicago - Cincinnati for Thanksgiving weekend. $84 for adults beat the $380 plane fare for this trip.

I need a local rental in Cincinnati which limits me to Hertz, Avis and Enterprise. I started with Hertz. Even though the "Fifty" promotion (which I no longer see on the website) has expired, I entered it into the rate code and received a $32 OTD rate for a three day weekend rental which is outstanding for any weekend. I also plugged in the Southwest discount code and should get 1.5 credits for the rental. An airport rental would be a lot more.

Sometimes, it pays to move away from the airport to save a little cash.

Has anyone successfully picked up their car with the 50% off rate after 6/30/08?
The promo code hasn't been shut down on the website yet, at the very least.

I am currently using the free weekend day offer, comes to about $42 + taxes for a Fri-Sun rental of a full-size car.
