I took my sons to St. Louis recently for a vacation. A lot of the great attractions are free: the zoo, the science center, art museum, and many other places. They have a nice lightrail system and their busses were OK. For $4.50 you could ride both all day long. You can pick up a free map of the city including public transportation at the Arch info center.
Here are two weblinks to coupons or discounts that we actually used at about 8 places. At each location, clerks were happy to take the coupon and did not give any grief. At the aquarium, the clerk even offered an additional free shark tooth.
