Need a long term car rental in San Jose, CA this summer. (Not at an airport)

Start Date: May 29, 2008 (flexible 1-2 days)
End Date : August 23, 2008 (flexible 1-2 days)

Cheapest car option.

Currently getting $1332 (total) using Hertz, CDP Code: 1757580 and $50 off coupon.

Any better deals out there? I think this is pretty good as its around $15/day.

I think that is a ridiculously good deal. Make sure that price includes all taxes and fees (which are generally MUCH lower away from the airport.

Do realize that Hertz may ask you to "trade out' the car once a month or so in order to service the vehicle.

I rented a car for four months in SoCal and put 15k on the vehicle during the period. I do not think that Avis was too happy about it. The next time I rented long-term, they insisted that I turn the car in every four weeks and get a different one.

I don't think you're going to beat that anywhere.

Enterprise online came up with $465/month...but they had this info posted so you may want to try to give them a call and try to negotiate something with them or pricematch?

Another option is that some rental companies increase their rates for long term so you may want to play around with renting it for 3 weeks at a time and perhaps you will get a better deal? The only downside is the hassle of having to go back in for a new contract.

Here's the info on Enterprise:
