US Airways also followed suit. Plus they are going to start charging $2 for drinks in coach class. |
Pay toilets are next! |
that is really logical expectation. |
You can't take liquids including water past security and then they want to charge for water/drinks??? WTF |

We take empty water bottles through security and then fill them at the airport water fountains. I suppose if you must have a sweetened drink, you could take packets of pre-sweetened Kool-aid and mix it inside. Along the same topic, Southwest Airlines is running a great commercial on the charges It's a fake announcement and they have the point about pay toilets ("exact change required!") and throw in a bunch of other stuff like a $2 charge for hitting the stewardess call button. At the end they, of course, say that Southwest would never charge for stuff like that |
Last time I traveled we took empty water bottles and big thing of koolaid the koolaid caused our carryons to be searched by hand at each location. but we did get to keep it. |
when you comparison shop and price out your flight just add $15/bag to UA then decide if you go somewhere else --- good riddance --- I would prefer not have a bunch of whiners on my flight anyhow |
i travel a lot, and most ppl I seen just carry a bigger than usual carry-on w/them... this way you dont have to pay the extra 15 for checking luggage. |

With all the weight loss hype, airline will soon charge airfares based on passenger weights. |

germanpope said:kkwok8580 said:With all the weight loss hype, airline will soon charge airfares based on passenger weights. At that point they need to be charged for the 2 seats they are taking up. It is unfair for everyone to pay the same price and have someone next to you take up half your seat because of their size. |

Onenote said: At the end they, of course, say that Southwest would never charge for stuff like that As for Southwest, they play the good guy, but if it weren't for their great fuel hedging position (kudos to Southwest, great business decision) they would be in the same boat...probably worse. |
germanpope said: Very interesting concept. Might cost the airlines a lot in reconfiguring the planes but it is an idea! To get back OT I got a $160 "credit" with Airtran for the extra baggage fee for second bags. We purchased tickets before the announcement was made- I don't forsee needing more that 4 bags for a week at Disney BUT I emailed them and instead of just putting a notation of "waiving" on the reservation, I have a $160 credit to use with them. It is nice to know if needed it is there (this is $20 per bag --the fee, per person per leg of the nonstop flights). |
germanpope said: Nah, they would just replace the existing seats with bench seating like in school buses. |
