Expedia is the last site I would use to book a hotel. I just price a hotel in Barcelona using the hotel website and Expedia. Expedia's rate is $519 per night + tax. The hotel's website is $98 per night, including breakfast.

Book it, Danno.

So you wouldn't book through Expedia if it was less?

Thanks for the heads up.

What was the hotel and what were the dates?

Expedia best-rate-guarantee

"It’s simple! Expedia guarantees you’re getting the best price. If you should find a better price online for the same trip within 24 hours, Expedia will refund the difference—and give you a travel coupon worth $50.

The Best Price Guarantee covers virtually every part of your trip: flights, hotels, vacation packages, cruises, rental cars and activities. See restrictions."

Why would Expedia charge 5x the rate to begin with? A 24 hour rate exchange policy!?!?! That's a $3,000 difference!!!!

BTW, the hotel isn't a luxury hotel, it is a Best Western!

Date is 22-28 February. He's what's even funnier. There was a price drop over night on the Best Western's website. The room, with breakfast, is now $96 per night, and the last night is $88.

Expedia is showing $523.08 per night (Actually went up $4.08 since yesterday).

The Hotel is Hotel 54 in Barcelona.

Why is this so important to you? No one relies on any one site to book/buy anything.

Metasearch engines are your friends.

I got this deal once, the travel coupon was $50 but only on certain Expedia hotels or Any hotel + Airfare. Luckily, I was booking a few different hotels over a vacation and found one that was an approved Expedia special hotel.

When I go to the site, I see prices as 96EUR, BTW.

That is closer to the Expedia price other times of the year, I suspect that they just have a screwup in the rate table for dates that far out. But as others have said, why do you care so much that in this particular instance, they are higher priced. I have found cheaper prices on Exedia than anywhere else sometimes, so does that mean Orbitz.com is a ripoff?

As much as I hate Expedia, that's odd for their rate to be so much higher than hotel's own rate. It's probably just an error like jaimelobo said. Any reason you are so fixated on this? I mean there are close to 600 hotel listings for Barcelona when I search in Expedia.
