You are NOT following the EXACT directions listed on the previous page about how to do the address and the ones on the FIRST page on what type of CC number to get. That is the totally wrong numbers...you need to read the FIRST page, FIRST post and it will explain how to do this and what the first 6 numbers MUST be. If you don't have the first 6 numbers set the way they are supposed to be you can try forever and it won't work. I just upgraded my BIL...took 2 tries on the correct CC number format to get it to work.

Just wanted to share a quick 'Gold Level' experience:
I was down in Costa Rica last month, enjoying my first trip abroad. After 2 weeks of being about the country in all levels of lodging, I decided I'd spend my final night in something I knew to be comfortable and cozy (and has hot water for showers). So I chose a doubletree in San Jose. I didn't have a reservation, so when I was at the counter booking my stay, I could hear them nickle-and-diming the guy next to me for everything. Charges for internet, charges for breakfast, etc. After a moment, I recalled I had my Hilton Card (albeit not with me), so I asked if he could look it up. I had obtained 'Gold Level' from a previous loophole about a year previous, and never really utilized it. I travel occasionally for work, but exclusively in the USA. The employee was able to look up my card, and once confirming with my I.D. that it was me, his entire attitude shifted.
-I was immediately offered an upgrade to their Executive Suite, which was a very nice room. Far nicer than I was expecting.
-Free wifi
-Free bottled water
-Free breakfast in the morning
-Free Executive Lounge, from 5-7pm. Basically, I went to their bar area and they brought me out a plate full of appetizers. They also served a limited choice of free beverages, but I was able to enjoy about 5 glasses of wine in that time.

All in all, it went from what I would've considered just a 'meh' stay, to a 'well damn, that was nice' stay. Haven't even read this page to see HOW you're getting your Gold status. I'm just here to say, I finally got to fully appreciate mine for once. And I would definitely give it a thumbs up.

Another option is to get the AMEX Hhonors Surpass card - http://www.frugaltravelguy.com/credit-cards/hotel-cards. In addition to Gold Status, earn 10 Hhonors points per dollar spent at Hilton properties, other bennies. Stay one weekend at a DT or Hilton property, save enough (internet, breakfast) to cover the annual fee.

Still working. I just got GOLD and confirmed it by signing back into my account. Will combine with my other HHonors account that has some points. Had to try a few attempts to get the credit card number to work, but you'll know right away -- says "VERIFIED" Thank you OP.

It took several attempts but I was able to get GOLD status again. Thanks OP.

Hi. Thanks for the info. Got it to work. Slightly confused on how I would make a reservation though under the fake name that is generated?? Am I supposed to change it to my real name once it shows a gold status? If so, how do I do that in the profile? I don't see a place for that, just to change the address to your own.

Thanks!!

when I put in the CC number and login, it says "You're already registered", however when I logged back in, it still shows my status as BLUE.

Upgraded to gold during this offer and it worked at the hotel last week. Got free breakfast and extra points. Just having problems updating preferences which may be related to the profile changes made. Not sure if calling customer service would be a good idea at this point.

rated:

This looks nice. Is there a similar way to get some free Honors points?

rated:

still works.

thanx!

tried to change my profile to the aussie address as the first step and it won't let me:

"We experienced a temporary technical difficulty. Check your entry and try again."

I think a lot of Golds are feeling Blue today.
