I need to take the family to Las Vegas for an event. The event is being held at Red Rock Resort, the cost is out of my budget for the whole trip, so we will stay the night of the event, but need nice, affordable hotels.
I have never been to Las Vegas, but i am not interested in Gambling, my kids are very young.
Any suggestions appreciated, especially the helpful ones

Sun Coast Hotel is about 1 mile from Red Rock Casino. Usually can get room for $29-$49/nite, but higher on fri/sat nite. It is decent place in good neighborhood but nothing fancy. Go to their website to see deals and photos.

Palace Station Hotel and casino
google says $21/nite for your dates.
It is about 7 miles from red rock hotel.
Same company owns both places, but palace station is lesser quality but still ok, maybe 3*. It is next to the interstate freeway in the middle of Las Vegas. Easy 7 mile drive to Red Rock.
Beware of 'daily resort fees' add-ons at most Las Vegas hotels, $10-$25/nite. Ask when booking. Never any parking charge.
I call Suncoast Hotel and was told someone will get back to me. In the meantime my wife looking into Palace Station. Does anyone know of suites, not sure it will fit in budget, but wife wanted me to look, and the ones i looked at, ranging from ($90-$110) do not have good reviews.
Thanks for the help .
I think i may ask Suncoast, if they come back with a good price, if they have adjoining rooms and the cost.

Please keep suggestions coming.Yes, whole threads dedicated to this over in Travel. Read them. Here's some additional helpful suggestions:
Do a little research first (in the Travel forum and online) and post results (FW members are not a travel agents) Provide at least a modicum of information (FW members are not mind readers)
e.g. -
" need to take the family to Las Vegas for an event..." (and we are to guess the dates or is there just one event all year in LV??) " the cost is out of my budget" (a budget which is Homer Simpson's or Mitt Romney's??) " my kids are very young" (6 months old, 3 years old, 10 years old??)
etc., etc. etc.

Red Rock Shuttle Service to the Strip
Yes. The resort offers guests a complimentary shuttle to and from the Las Vegas Strip. Contact Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa for the shuttle's exact drop-off and pick-up times.
I would stay on the strip in one of the sister properties and utilize free shuttle. I do not think the shuttle can refuse to take you to the RR casino if you tell the driver you want to gamble.
It's a 10 mile drive - easy

I often sit on the sideline without making comments about travel requests because I've been in the same situation but at the very least do some research and tell us what you came up with. Like Jamie said I won't repeat it over again.

You need to get over to the LAs Vegas forum at Trip Advisor. They live for these kinds of questions!
Red Rock is indeed a beautiful resort. It is very far west of Las Vegas so understand where it is and how you will get to/from the hotel.
Have you called them and asked for a cheaper rate? If not, what have you got to lose?
There does seem to be something big happening in Las Vegas over your dates since some of the deals I've seen block out your dates.

Mea culpa,
I have been doing research, but not being able to find the deals i wanted. I have helped others find deals so i should no better.
Dates: Sept 20 - 24. Event being held in Red Rock and as kid just turned 3 i have decided for Friday night, night of actual event, to bite the bullet and stay on premises. I have tried different sites, i.e Hotels.com, Experian, Prieline, AMEX but not finding any great deals. My budget is closer to Ebenezer Scrooge then it is to Mitt .
Would love a suite, willing to move up to Homers budget, but will settle on large room. So far is seams the fallback option is one suggested by @sloppy1 thank you, the Suncoast I will go over to the appropriate travel forum rooms.
Still would love some help/advise

Your stats don't support that assertion.
