one thing that i do is go to Orbitz to find the flights that I want. Once I see them, I check the price and go directly to the individual airline's website. Their airfares are usually cheaper than the ones listed by Orbitz b/c Orbitz tacks on their own fees. Hope this helps.

Has someone answered the below question regarding "There are some awesome deals on these lists, however, I can't seem to book any of the flights. Does anyone know how to use the rate code provided? There's probably a really obvious answer that I'm missing."

"Expedia Used to Have Cool Tools, They Don't Offer Them Anymore
Not directly, anyway. But the direct links still work.

How do people feel about JetBlue? I've been trying to get tickets from JFK to Syracuse NY and its been tough finding cheap fares.
Also, do people have discount codes to share?
Thanks a bunch.

A very frequent question at FatWallet goes something like "My trip to XXX is 6 months away, should I buy my ticket now or wait and see if the price drops?"

Several domestic airlines have a little-known policy that may allay the fear of losing out on a better deal. If you buy a ticket and notice that the price drops later for the exact same itinerary on the same dates of travel, you can call and the airline will issue a voucher towards a future ticket purchase.

United, Delta, American, Northwest, and USAirways all offer this for sure. Check with the airline you're considering purchasing from. There's often some fine print, such as Northwest excludes web fares from this, but I've found it to generally work well.

Whenever you purchase a ticket it's a good idea to check whether the fare has dropped even a little as that's a free money towards your next trip.

Is there a direct link to an airline homepage explicitly showing this clause? Or anyone actually tried this recently?

1. I have had US Air and Delta refund if lower fares become available.

2. Also - recommend booking direct with airline (unless using Priceline or similar) since Yahoo etc. add a fee ($10)

Thanks OP and thanks NJcomp for the links! Those Expedia tools are great.

Just called the 1-800 number for the airline and pointed out the there was a lower fare available for same flights. I did it a little over a year ago. I'm going to try it again with US Air for 3/05 trip that should go down soon.

    Airline Fare List

I did a search using this to look for the lowest price on a flight from Chicago to Amsterdam and come up with $311 but can't figure out which flight this might be or how I might go about booking it. Can anyone help me?

Yeah, similar experience here, looking at LAX-->London, I can get Virgin through Travelocity for $585, nothing less than $650 showing at Mobissimo or Kayak... including the identical Virgin flights listed at "cheap seats"!

Oddly enough, the Virgin Web site also quotes $650 for those flights, yet Travelocity shows their $585 includes all taxes and fees. Can't bite just yet, as we're still nailing down exact dates of travel, but Travelocity also offers "fare watcher" that will notify you if/when your itinerary price changes.

Travel search engines that I use are:
Fare Chase Great search engine for flights
Gorilla Air - NO, it's not the name of an airline, it's the search engine!
Travel Axeyou have to download & install the program, but it is GREAT for searching Hotels and flights
