After being slammed for 12 hours straight by millions of people, I'm pretty sure it is.
More like several thousand people on certain deal forums creating dozens of new accounts and playing over and over, incorrectly thinking they can combine all their miles into one account and get a free first class ticket to Africa.

Africa? Good luck to them..last time I was there I was almost slaughtered...they better bring some defense gear with them..
HOW CAN I BE SO STUPID!!! I took a look of the printout I had after enrolling in the SkyMile program, I then noticed there was a link provided for me to converting these points from Dash to the Gate into acutal mile. I DIDN'T SEE IT BEFORE! I thought these points would be transferred after the enrollment completed. Thus I just printed out my temporary SkyMiles card and exited the system. Now I probably will never get these miles. STUPID, STUPID, STUPID.
i haven't checked my accounts in a while - i actually didn't printout the membership # cause i thought they would email. so i have to call them to get it.... so dumb. anyway, i heard about points expiring 12/31/04 - is this true? also, for those of you who setup more than one account, were you able to 'consolidate' all your points together under one account?

the miles expire in december of 07, i verified this yesterday when i bought a ticket on Delta.com Also if you setup more than one account you can transfer the, into 1 account, however there is a $25 fee for every account u do a transfer from, so you still end up paying $50-$100 + taxes, no way to get a free ticket. Also if you didnt press the convert points to miles button, no worries, you still get the miles. I didnt press that button on any of my accounts and i still got the miles.

thanks for the info! i think i setup 3 accounts. possibly 4. i checked the point levels for Hawaii here - is this the right place? from what i remember, i thought tickets to hawaii from the US were less points than 35,000. maybe this changed at the start of the new year? looks like it may only be a one-way ticket as well...
also, i found more info on the transfer here... You can transfer:
* 5,000 to 10,000 miles in increments of 1,000 miles at a cost of $0.01 per mile, plus a $25 processing fee. * A maximum of 10,000 miles into any individual SkyMiles account per calendar year.

Miles carry over and only expire if you have no account activity for three years. You need not have a flight to have account activity -- just click through from their skymiles mall area to OfficeMax or something (sort of like Ebates but you get mileage credit instead of CashBack).

I got mine. It put me over 100,000. I used them to get 4 R/T tix from NY to CA during the April school vacation. With all the news I've been hearing about Delta, we didn't want to risk losing the miles.

I'd guess you did the game early-on when there was an overload glitch that didn't credit people's accounts after playing. You had to check by attempting to replay; if it didn't let you then you knew your account was credited with the play. I personally had to replay mine over again, but fortunately the original thread explained about this.

I just got my 10000 skymiles last week (4 months later!!!). I had to send email inquiries to Skymiles customer service every couple of weeks for the past two months. They never replied to a single one of them, except the automated response of "thanks for your email, we will get back to you soon". Even though they never replied the miles magically appeared on my account. Persitence pays off!

Hi, my husband and I each opened a skymiles account and played the game back in Dec. I remember seeing the 10k miles in my account sometime after the game, but today when I checked my balance, the points are all gone! And the same thing happened to my husband, too. Even when I check my historic balance, it was zero all the way back to last Dec. I called Delta and they couldn't give me any answer. Did I do something stupid to lose the points or did they just expire?
These miles did not count as activity to keep the miles alive...

I got mine right away and booked a trip using them shortly after receiving them. The 10,000 gave me what I needed to get away for spring break. Our family of 4 just got back last week. We went from NY to California for $10 service charge each. I charge EVERYTHING on my AMEX Skymiles and almost always pay the bill in full. It adds up quickly.
