strosg97, thanks for putting this thread together. I just hope that people will read this thread before posting another request about Vegas hotels. |

I second that. MGM is not that great. I dont like the casino or the far walk from the elevators to the rooms. I always stay and gamble at the RIO. Rooms are big and service is good. I have to wonder why the RIO is always so crowded at night considering its off the strip. I only play craps and it is very hard to get on a crap table after 8pm. They have 4 open and all are usually full any night of the week. Most of the other strip hotels will have 4 tables open and usually 1 or 2 of them are empty. Sign up for the players club and they will send you free two free room nights a month every three months. dunder said:What's all the hoopla about MGM? I've known 2 people to stay there. One said they wouldn't go back and the other moved to the Hilton 2 days after getting there. Granted I hear the pool is nice they both said its far from the hotel, like a really far walk from the room. I can't give my personal opinion as I never stayed there - I do like there casino and ALWAYS win on the nickel machines nearest the front desk area.
I've stayed at RIO free. I played there one night and got coupons for several free nights and free slot tournaments; loved it and a great pool. Mandalay Bay was nice but was there on business and the company paid.
I am going next month and staying at Luxor 2 nights and got a great price ($59) at luxor.com/sumspec Then Venetian for 2 nights on a Priceline deal of $113/night and then Green Valley Ranch who sent me 2 free nights as well. I have played GVR only once so I don't know why I got the freebies. I only play quarter and nickel machines.
Anyway, MGM or not....I'll see you there July 16. |

Luxor Las Vegas Book anytime now through September 8, 2005 and receive exclusive $20 off rates per night. As low as $59/night!
Also receive more than $100 in added values: 2 for 1 Lunch Buffet. $10 off Blue Man Group. $10 off Midnight Fantasy Adult Revue; 2 Complimentary admissions to Oasis Spa 2 Complimentary admissions to King Tutankhamun Museum Valid Sunday-Thursday: Spa Suite Upgrade-$50 or Jr. One Bedroom Suite-$100. Up to $35 in retain savings _____________________________________________
We've been reading all the MGM information (re: SLM029) and booked a room online with that code after signing up for Players Club but I'm worried they won't honor the rate we received ($59.00)... So, we booked the Luxor for $59.99 on the deal listed in this forum... Is that good for everyone or do we need to worry about the same things as the MGM deal????? (we are arriving July 18)... Also, with the Luxor deal, will they give us the "goodies" after we check in because our confirmation email makes no mention of them... We'll cancel one of the two hotel deals once we're sure the rate is not going to change on us. |

The only deal that may pose problems are the SLM codes for MGM, all other deals are for all customers. |

my best suggestion, download Southwest Ding! from their website and it will update you every day with specials. presuming Southwest flies to your city, you should be able to get a good deal...I got $30 each way from So Cal.
you just have to snag the deals right away because they expire every few hours. but they service Vegas a lot so your odds are good |

I have a Rio card and I've used it (I like gambling and staying there on occassion), but never gotten any free rewards or anything...hmm. maybe I need to update my address or something, but I never even received a welcome letter so that kind of makes me wonder. guess I'll call them and see |

I took the chance and went with the MGM deal. Itworked for the most part. I got the $59 a night deal from them, but they did not throw in the $35 food credit. This was using the special code: SLM029.
I called and tried to get the food credit after I had checked in, but that was a no go. |

Any deals on some of the higher-end spots? Wynn's, Bellagio, Mandalay, etc.? Looking for a good weekend rate for the weekend of Sept 16th.
Also, anyone stayed at the Rio suites? Opinions? |

A good weekend rate during football season is a tough one....especially at a high end property. Look at booking something like Bally's and trying Priceline for the Venetian close to when you go. |

I wouldnt consider RIO a higher end property or their rooms suites. Their rooms are just a bit larger than most, but not elegant in any way. They have a big L shaped couch, a 32in, and a small desk along with the bed. The casino is very busy at nights and impossible on weekends. If you are a craps or tables player, its very hard to get on at night unless you play the $25 tables. If you can get a rate of $79/wdays $149/wends it would be a fair price. I usually get my rooms free there, I wouldnt stay if I had to pay.
I will be staying at THEHOTEL next week, so I'll report back when I get home.

The Summer promotion code for Tropicana(DHJJA05)gets you discounts for the shows, not the rooms. I just booked it and they charge the normal room rate + $10 for the promotion package. I cancelled mine and just paid the standard room rate. This promotion will only benefit you if you want to see one of their shows. I was hoping for a discounted room rate... oh well. |

The $149 rate at the Bellagio is good for some Friday nights in July, Aug and September. That's a great rate on the strip for a Friday night, no less at the Bellagio. Just an FYI. Use the promotion code DST1EM and check availability. |
