1. As stated above, please conduct a SEARCH to ensure that the deal was not posted previously. 2. Try to be specific as possible in your title. (Mandalay Bay $20 per night for 08/29 only on Orbitz!)

Request for information, CODES, etc…
You may be surprised at the number of questions and subsequent responses that have been posted to the board covering many topics. 1. Please conduct a SEARCH before you post asking for specific information. 2. Use a web search engine (like www.google.com or www.ask.com) to try to find your answer.
Here are some tricks for using the search box that is directly above the list of threads.
1) How to search for words in order. Suppose you want to find a thread about borders coupon. Normally this will not match a thread titled "borders $5 off coupon" (try it in HD). If you search for borders % coupon instead, it will find it. The "%" tells the search to ignore any stuff in the thread title that comes between the words "borders” and "coupon". You can use "%" more than once. For example, 256%usb%drive will find all threads that have a "256", "usb", and "drive" in the title (in that order) even if there are other words in between (the first match I got was Iomega Mini 256MB USB2.0 Flash Drivefor $9.99 AR at Staples).
Note: if you search for 256 %usb%drive (with a space after the "256") you are telling the search to find all threads where there is a "256" followed immediately by a space, then some random junk, then "usb", then more random junk, and then "drive".
2) The character "_" is a wild card. It will match any single character. So searching on USB _.0will match threads whose titles are USB 2.0 or USB 1.0 (as well as "USB A.0", "USB B.0", etc)

The site seems to be working fine now with updates as recent as 9/18 in the "What's New" section (09-18-05: Dollar: Compact $24.99/day; Inter: $29.99/day thru 12-15-05)
I'd suggest incorporating a more prominent link/reference to travelzoo.com in this thread. I recently searched for car rental rates for the Holiday season and found the best rate quickly and easily at travelzoo. Beat Hotwire and the various codes on rentalcodes.com by $150+-- glad I checked it before booking. I've also been impressed w/ a number of their air/hotel deals (there is a link to travelzoo on the "how to search for air" thread, already).

It is already there under "Last Minute Trip Resources", since Travelzoo typically is for last minute deals. Where else would you suggest it be included?
I found it somewhat challenging to find car rental deals given the myriad options for companies, destinations, auto sizes, etc., since it was one of the first times that I've done so via the internet. I understand that this particular thread is largely meant to prevent redundant posts, but I attempted to use it to gather info for how to find the best car rental deal. There is not a separate thread for general "car rental deals" that I could find-- although the link to rentalcodes.com is quite helpful (although one still needs to page through each car company individually, from what I could tell).
So, perhaps a quick summary of where to find car rental deals might be a helpful addition to this thread. Perhaps not, but I would have benefitted from it and probably others will, too. For example, under "Request for Help, #4," I'd suggest beginning w/ a statement akin to the hotel/air deals (e.g., If you are looking for car rental deals...) and directing the reader to common (air/hotel) search engines that compare rental prices, too (e.g. Priceline, Hotwire, etc.). Then, talk about the rental codes search process in this forum and rentalcodes.com. Then, maybe mention travelzoo or any other relevant places that may contain unique deals. Just my .02. I appreciate the hard work that goes into these forums and the benefits that us users derive from them! Thanks.
I need to travel to India (chennai) in Novemebr/December. Which airline is the best?. I would prefer minimum flying hours. Also, any Travel agent info to contact/ any one not to contact ???

I'm a bit confused because I thought there would be FWF coverage of this in some depth and going back a ways, but I could only find some thread that's a month old and doesn't have much on it. My travel question concerns getting free airline tickets by being bumped, but not just in the traditional sense: after having been bumped on a flight last weekend I ended up talking with a man who said his son routinely buys refundable tickets on heavy travel days to heavy travel destinations (e.g. Vegas and SoCal in winter), then goes to the airport, gets bumped, and then cancels his flight for a full refund (possibly minus some $20 fee for getting a refundable ticket?); he said his son has some online forum where they talk about this strategy, which flights are likely to be overbooked, etc. Anyone know of anything here or elsewhere? (Anything more impressive than the bump site that was linked to on the bump thread that started this Oct?)
