Looking for car rental specials Raliegh NC RDU Airport Nov 13th thru the 15th, thus far im in the high 60's per day range, or is there something special about the RDU area that Im unaware of why the prices are so high, thanks goye

Have you tried any of the page 1 codes? You are renting midweek which is when prices are highest- you often need a Sat night stay like the airlines for the lowest prices. And, while I don't know about Raleigh in particular, some areas are just higher than others because they can be--- ie, due to lack of competition or supply/demand ratios. Every time a friend comes in from FL to NJ she asks me to check rates for her- and they are crazy here too, even for weekends. For example, I have been checking weekends, and I can't get her anything under 200$ for 3 days. Yet if she goes to PHL it's a fraction of that.

Have you checked Southwest's website for cars? They have some pretty good deals on some of the cities they fly into and I don't think you actually have to fly them. Check out their specials for the right codes to use. You can get pretty good comparisons all in one place on their website by putting in codes for all the different agencies in one place. If you don't see prices come down (and they may very well as November draws closer), head on over to Biddingfortravel.com or Betterbidding.com and see how much car rentals have been going for on Priceline and Hotwire in Raleigh. OR you could ask about local offices off-airport if that's not too inconvenient.

will do Ria,,,thanks goye

Here are a couple of new to this questions:

1. Do you have to show affiliation with, for instance, the State Bar of Hawaii, or UCLA to use that particular discount?

2. I read in the Enterprise section a suggestion that your accept the insurance option, so the agent gets credit for it, then going to another office and cancelling just the insurance. Is that a wise tip for other rental agencies?

3. I apologize if I posted in the wrong place. There were codes for many car rental agencies for the first post. The town I'm inquiring about is Hemet, CA any points in the right direction will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much! This is for my father-in-law, who needs to get from Hemet, CA to City of Hope in Duarte, CA. The first trip will be Oct. 3, and he will need a full size car for his comfort coming back. There will at least be another driver and possibly other passegers. These appointment may be ongoing, but we are looking for a one day weekday rental for the first one. He is a member of AAA, AARP if that helps.

Hertz has a fullsize for $43.63 total with the AAA code. Any other AAA members can be added to the rental as free additional drivers. Use the coupon on hertz.com for a free upgrade to a premium car (PC 980825).

The UCLA and State Bar of Hawaii codes for Enterprise come up more expensive than the Hertz discount above.

Avis has a fullsize for $44.73 total with the K817625 code (Delta). Additional drivers are free (this is a good option if the additional driver is not a AAA member).

Szymon

I'm also new to this thread. Is there any danger in using these promotion codes when booked online? For example I'd like to use the one below:

Budget - BCD Number T356877 – Ctiy of Seattle – OK to rent at 18 – No drop off charges in Washington

Can this be used to rent a car in Portland Oregon and is there any chance they won't accept it when I pick up the car. I'd rather pay a higher rate than take a chance in getting screwed on my rental.

I need a rental car (don't mind any rental co) at San Diego between 11 am 27th Oct to 9 pm 29th Oct (2days and 10 hours rental). All I am getting is ~$33/day. I guess that is not a great deal. If anyone can help me out, that would be great.

Great thread everyone, lots of great info!

I am looking for a rental (Int/Full-Size Range) for Oct 18 7:00pm, through Oct 22, 7:00pm from Dallas/Fort Worth Airport.
I am 24, so the biggest problem for searching for a reasonable rate has been the additional fee's.

After looking through all the different codes for all the different rental's the best deal I could find was from Budget using the CorpRate ID #T557400

For a Intermediate is 149.75
For a Standard or Full-Size 154.86

This seems like a good deal, considering everything else I had found was nearly $200 or more, especially with the age fees.

Anyone have any suggestions, is this a good deal..?
Thanks!!

BTW, what cars come with Sirius? I havent seen one with that option yet..only option I see are kid seats, insurance, and gps(which I might get)

cxjr25 said: FYI

I am trying to make a reservation using the University of Oregon code for Enterprise and it shows the following in the confirmation. I am trying to avoid the underage fee and others have posted this code as an option, but it clearly states that I will be charged.

---------------------
ENTERPRISE AGE POLICY
---------------------

ALL DRIVERS MUST BE 21 YEARS OF AGE. AN UNDERAGE CHARGE WILL APPLY TO DRIVERS AGES 21-24. DRIVERS UNDER 25 CAN ONLY RENT ECAR THROUGH FCAR.

FYI, I used the University of Oregon code for Enterprise Rent-a-car out of the Las Vegas Airport location this past weekend. I was not asked to show ID, but the service rep did say "so it looks like you are here on business this weekend, your company has covered your insurance costs".

The rate I paid was not as good as the lowest online rates, but I did get the under 25 fee waived.

Thanks FW

Use the $15 off coupon for Alamo at VacationOutlet.com and get a compact car for $57.25 total including taxes. That makes your rental $19/day).

Still looking RDU Raleigh car rental......2 days Intermediate 60.00 per......Using Vacation Outlet, outside of printing coupon, is there anything else I would need to do?

Again, is 60.00 per weekday the average or do I need to keep digging?

thanks to the regulars.....

$37.99/day + taxes/fees for a midsize SUV from Dollar. Use promo code 722M.

Comes out to $96.54 total for the 2 days.

Szymon

Thanks szymon....ill give it a try at the house.......

Thanks, szymon. I just used those two codes as examples of codes that are posted, but I have no affliation.

I don't mind getting a discount, but not at the cost of making the insurance null and void "just in case" the worst happens.

Thanks!

Szymon,

I just went to Hertz.com and it says I do not meet the requirements for PC 980825.

Not all requirements for the Promotion Coupon - PC980825 requested have been met. We have removed the Promotion Coupon from your request to provide you with the best rate. If you would still like to take advantage of the Promotion Coupon, please refer to the offer details to meet all necessary requirements. [DRX141]

Are you using the AAA CDP along with that coupon? You need to put in the AAA CDP or else the coupon will not apply.

What a great thread!

I am going to rent a car in NJ from 11/15/2007-11/26/2007. I have never rented a car for such a long time. I tried several times yet never got a good deal. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to get a good deal on this or I have to rent at a regular price since the time period has passed a week? Thanks a lot.

Thanks, szymon! I was not using the AAA CDP code. Thanks, I'm just learning the ropes re this. I really appreciate your help!

Was in RDU a couple of weeks ago and they have 4 dr all leather new full size Buicks on the Emerald Aisle. With the Carlson and a free weekend day coupon my Thursday PM to Monday PM rental was $110.

For Newbs, if you join Emerald Club, there are automatic full size upgrades on the Aisle, so there is no need to rent a full size and any paper coupons, like free days, just hand it to the person in the booth on the way out. No need to go into the office.

PS computer was down and the rental so far was free.

Just a headsup- There is a $5/day 9/11 fee so right there is 55$ right off the bat of your payment for renting anywhere in NJ.
You should be able to get some kind of discount off of "regular" prices but don't expect the kind of deals you can find in less expensive areas. What have you found so far? Are you renting at EWR or can you go off-airport? Rates do tend to be high here but are often less at the local places. Occasionally it is cheaper to break longer periods up into shorter ones, especially if there are high-value coupons out. You won't know til you try different combinations. And if you are finding prices still too high, wait as long as possible and then see how much a bid on PL or HW would be. If you will be in South Jersey, it might pay to rent from the Philly area instead. Tends to be significantly cheaper.

Please let us know what you come up with. I am looking for something for my friend and will post if I find something good.

PL7-

I just checked biddingfortravel.com and found a winnng bid for 11/11-24 for a compact for $20/day from National. That's a steal- and National allows spouses of EA members to drive free. I don't think you will do better than that at EWR- I'd say go for it if you are definitely making this trip! Of course you must be prepared for the substantial additional fees. Other bids for bigger cars have gone from 31-85 a day. http://p070.ezboard.com/New-YorkNew-JerseyPennsylvaniaDelaware/fpricelineandexpediabiddingfrm195

We don't know what times your pickup/dropoff are so you may be renting for 2 days or 3. I did check Southwest's website for you and they have a similar special on a minivan for a buck or two more a day- which was definitely available for your dates/location.

Often we bargain seekers are far better informed than the people from the agencies. I'd trust szymon on this but you'd need to give more complete info to know if the total is correct or not.

ria,,,thanks for the update...it was a simple less then 2 days (43 hour total rental) that i was looking for, i took that it was a given no to try and stretch anything.....

I did the Dollar rental that szymon suggested.....96.54,,,,Uncertain if this was included but i found it in the fine print: "Surcharge Information: A 11.11% Airport Concession Fee will be charged on the entire rental." ????

Thanks much for the friendly helpful help that i recieved......

Heeelppp!!!!

I have tried 3 different Budget Id's from the first page (Ithaca, City of Seattle, and Harvard) and the are supposed to be good for under 25.

But When I confirm my reservation, under the terms I see noting about this... this is what I see.

additional fees & credit holds:
Unless indicated otherwise in the "Other" section below, an additional $25 per day fee applies for renters under 25 years of age. This fee is in addition to your quoted online rate. Renters under the age of 25 may not rent luxury, full-size SUV, premium SUV, full-size van, mini van, special cars or pick-up trucks.

other:
• In the U.S., you may be asked to sign a driving record addendum or be subject to a computerized Department of Motor Vehicles check. Based upon such search, Budget reserves the right to deny a rental opportunity.
• If you use a debit card at this location, you won't need to present a second form of identification, but we will perform a credit check at the time of rental to determine credit worthiness.

There are no special items under other..am I going to get stuck with the additional $25/day fee...

Does anyone know any other ID's for Budget that will waive the fee?

I know Im off topic here but, well I like it here,,,so here goes:

I was watching a one way flight to RDU, the price went up from 64.00 to 111.00 since last week, will it drop back again or are some days better then others to BOOK IT?

thanks regs.....

If you are anywhere near an area serviced by Southwest, sign up for their DING specials. They do go to RDU and often for super-cheap.

The price may or may not come back down- it's all based on supply and demand. You can sign up with several different sites to be alerted when a fare comes back within a certain range.

Thanks again Ria.....im off to sign up to another one.....

I guess the rumor about going to the Airlines making reservation versus Xpedia / Ocity for better prices is a thing of the past, because im finding that the prices between them two and the different airlines to be about a buck or three???

Remedy.....

Southwest doesnt do direct flight to rdu from jax on tuesday the 13 of nov.

Best so far is 111.40 per, non stop from jax to rdu on the 13th.

ILL BE ARNOLD

I usually find that Expedia et al cost MORE because of the fees you have to pay. But if never hurts to look in case they have something the airlines don't- and it gives you an overview. Of course SW, Jet Blue and some other cheaper lines don't show up at all on some of the multi-sites.

Ria.....proper suggestion award of the day.....2U

SWA from RDU to ORL (mco) 188.00, thanks for saving me some major smackaroonies.....

Thanks for my first internet award ! You're very welcome.

Be sure to keep an eye on that fare- what makes me and so many others loyal, devoted SW fans is that if the fare goes down, you can rebook and pocket your savings for a future flight! If you didn't already download DING, definitely do so.

Have a great time on your concert tour.

I am under 25
I am not in any univ. or state listed on Enterprise promotions
Can I use those link?
Do they ask for ID when picking up?

I just tried your National res. There are a coupla things going on here- the obvious one being the extra 2 hours you have the car, which are costing you an extra day. The interesting part of this is that if you can pick up on the half hour and return at the same time of day, the price goes down a surprising amount (225 vs 168!) compared to p/u and drop off on the hour. This often turns out to be the case, for whatever reason. If you can play around with your times a bit- I did 11:30-11:30- you can easily get under $200. With your coupon, pick up half hr/half hr, just under 160$. 106$ is really almost too good to be true- can't expect to get that again.

We arrive at 10:30AM and depart at 3:00PM. As nice as the airport is, the thought of watching planes for 4 hrs just doesn't get it. Not in Vegas, anyway. Yes, I did find that code a few pages ago. Is there a rate code that can help? Can you stack standard coupons? I'm not goin steady with the Aisle. Is there anything else sweeter out there??

If noone can suggest anyway to waive the underage fee for Budget, I will try some of the ID's for Enterprise..
Using the different educational codes available, I can get my rental ( Pickup at Dallas Fort-Worth Oct.18 - 22 7pm) down to $168 E, $173 C, or $177 Int...

Do people recommend Enterprise, glimpsing through the thread I havent seen a lot of positive on them.

I am wondering if there is restrictions for those educational codes?
can anybody use those codes?
