SunDiego123 said: Hi all. We picked up our National rental car today using our awesome FW deal (5760339 and 10009262). Also had our FREE Emerald Club ID (thanks for the tip!). Just wanted to let you know that the clerk at the Emerald counter did ask for our coupon. I had a 2-class upgrade coupon I printed off the AMEX site but used my MasterCard for the rental, no problem. Also, we were given a choice of about 5 different vehicles including an Uplander and a PT Cruiser. We opted for the Impala which was brand new (250 miles) with leather interior, so not bad.

Great deal OP, but make sure you print out a coupon or two to razzle dazzle the counter clerk, because they probably will ask.

I used these two codes combination to get a great deal on National. I am leaving for Florida next week. Would you please give me a link for the 2-class upgrade coupon? Or how I can find it on AMEX?

Thanks a lot

Is the free enrollment for Emerald club dead? I saw it will charge $50 for enrollment

Spending too much on National myself trying to decipher, ive noticed that it appears to be free at certain times and then it changes back to the 50.00 charge, sort of hit & miss......

Using contract# 5760339 and coupon#10009262, order wont process unless i answer this question:

"Please select a quantity for coupon 10009262?"

Any suggestions......thank you

Under the same scenario.....i used the Carlson code of #5760339 without using any coupon and am able to process the request with a satisfactory rate, if i choose this option will i be required to have any proof / coupon when i go and pick up the car for this price? again thanks

I just chose quanity 1 and it worked.

Unfortunately the AMEX 2 car upgrade coupon doesn't work 12/24 to 12/31 at the Denver airport.

OP,is there any cancellation fee if we cancel our online booking/reservation? and how can we get those listed last minute specials rate, since I tried several times click on RESERVE!, but never got the listed rate? OP, do you think it's better to reserve the car way in advanced or wait until it's closer to my travel date? I'm planning to rent a car starting Dec 20 for 2 weeks. Thanks

No charge for not cancelling. As far as reserving, the only reason to reserve early would be if there is an event in town. I remember going to Orlando and getting the third to the last car in the lot because of several big events.

The contract ID, coupon codes and printable coupos work if you make the reservation the night before.

I always call the local National to confirm, check what I can upgrade to, and ask what I will need to rent the car.

sotang said: Is the free enrollment for Emerald club dead? I saw it will charge $50 for enrollment

Check the front page, I updated it with a link to free Emerald.

Here is another one

Just booked an economy car for January 9-16 for Maui. Used the contract code for National Emerald club and the American Casino guide coupon #5282964. Came out to $172.01 for 7 days. Not bad at all.

do you need an AMEX card to use the AMEX 2 class upgrade

someone said they used a mastercard but didnt day anything about actually having an AMEX card

oh and i also wanted to know if i use a university code (U of Penn) can i use an upgrade code from something like the printable BJ's coupon

I would like to thank everyone for this post. Last weekend I used the BJ promo code and my rental was $2.68 for three days. I was also upgraded to a Pontiac G6. It was my second rental so I get a free day cert too. My hotel was free from another promo. This board rocks!

Thanks

$2.68 for three days??

--------------------------------------------
Last weekend I used the BJ promo code and my rental was $2.68 for three days.
-----------------------------------

How is that possible?

There was a weekend deal. The total came to like 9.68 after the $20.00 coupon, and the corporate code discount, the car only had 3/4 of a tank gas so I was given a 4 gallon fuel credit and the total was 2.68. The guy that checked me said it was the best price he had ever seen. The BJ code isn't working on weekend rentals anymore. I just tried it.

bobbyjjohn said: do you need an AMEX card to use the AMEX 2 class upgrade. someone said they used a mastercard but didnt day anything about actually having an AMEX card. That was me. Yes, we have an AMEX card but didn't need to use it. The clerk wasn't really picky... she just said sweetly: "this says you have a coupon". I had a fistful of various coupons (the AMEX, pages I tore out of the Entertainment book, etc.) I said "my husband's secretary made the reservations so I'm not really sure what you need" (obviously not true). She said "well I'll just take that one" and took the AMEX sheet I had printed.

BTW, my car deal got even better since my last post... we discovered the car had XM radio! That was great bcs we have XM radio on my car at home and we're used to having it

Glad I found this!

Just booked a fullsize car in Atlanta for 11/16 - 11/20, with discounts it came to $134, far better than the $440 rack rate (do anyone really pay that?).

Also joined the Emerald club, for free of course.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to share this info!

Had booked thru Carlson for Nov 10-14 at MCO [Orlando, FL].
Also had joined Emerald club for free.

Had a minivan reservation for $139 with taxes.
The Emerald Isle, didnot have any decent minivans, i was looking for.
When asked, one rep said, look at Alamo aisle, if u like any, pick it up.

I picked up Buick Terreza. It was all leather, front and middle bucket seats. 60/40 Foldable back seat, DVD Player, etc.

After i picked the vehicle, it took <1 minute at the Gate to check out.
She asked for DL & Credit card and then said have a nice day.

Before returning, i had filled up the night before.
When i returned, i had driven about 12miles or so.
The express return couldn't be completed and i was asked to go to the main terminal's counter, since at 5:30AM the gate counters were closed.

When i went there, she said there is a charge of $54 for fuel.
I said i had just filled up and all i drove was the highway from hotel to here which was about 10-12 miles.
She knocked it off, and gave a receipt for a whopping $360 charge.

I showed her the original request and paperwork from their online system, that confirms the $139 price.
She asked, did i book a mini-Van? I said yes, here are the papers.
She re-adjusted it, putting in all the coupons, etc.
Finally gave me the bill of $139.
She didnot ask me for any coupons or anything else.

So it went out very well. I liked their Customer service. A+.

I have never had a problem with National where I came out on the short end.

Once I rented for San Jose and my plane was delayed and they had no cars left except compact, I thought so I complained and was walking out to the car at 12 midnight and the manager came running out and gave me the keys to a brand new caddy.

He apologized and gave me the caddy at the same price as the compact for the 10 day rental.

Never rented from anyone else ever again.

One act by one person made a customer for life.

nice

Hello I am US Airforce stationed in Germany and I am having a hard time finding a good rental rate for returning home for the holidays. I am 24 and do not want to have to pay a surcharge. I am looking for the best deal. Can anyone help?

Once again this thread saved me mucho dinero!!

Check out the original post. I updated it with a 20% discount AMEX for Europe plus you can use one of the under 25 Contract IDs to rent if it would be cheaper. Call first and confirm.

Thanks but I should have been more specific. I need a rental in Buffalo, NY from Dec 13th thru Jan 3rd with no underage penalty and between 500-600 US dollars. I have been searching to no avail for something fitting this critera. Any help would be appreciated.

Holy crap, I love FW! Just booked a Premium car with free Emerald membership for the price of an economy rental through Expedia.

Quick question though: I was booking Friday through Sunday rental, and I could not get the free weekend day coupons to work -- kept telling me that minimum rental length was incompatible though the coupons seem to say that a 3-4 day rental is required. Any help on that?

OP, you rock!

Print the coupon and take it to the local National site or call and tell them you have a free weekend day coupon and will they subtract it from the total of your rental.

They are pretty helpful at every National site.

It worked for me. Booked for 4 days over the weekend (Thursday-Monday), and got a one-day discount ($20). Yes, you have to rent it for at least 4 days, and max. 7 days.

I am just back from Tampa, FL. As a Emerald member I got a Monto Carol brand new(10miles) leather seat car with XM radio and sun roof. It cost me total 137 for 6 days rent. Everything went smoothly but they did check the coupon for upgrade. Thanks FW for all good information. I will rent from National again.

FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD IN THE WORLD WHERE CAN I PRINT THE COUPON FOR THAT 2 CAR CLASS UPGRADE??

10009262

Everyone says "look on the AMEX site" but I can't find it anywhere???

Where, where, where I must know? I can get a full size reservation, and get it for luxury (yes luxury) at LAX, but they need the coupon, where, oh where in the world is this coupon so I can print it.

Where
Where
WWWHHHEEERRREEEE????????

Here it is

I copied it from the first page.

Wish it was that easy! The AMEX code is 10009493, and it's not the same coupon. I've PM'ed a few people and no one knows how to get it. If anyone does know how to get 10009262, please post or PM. It would be a great help. Thanks

What's the difference both are two car upgrades and if you want to use a different contract ID number, National does not care, they just want to see the two car upgrade coupon.
