Today I reserved a Budget rental car through the USAA website. The discount I received was incredible. I had tried several other discount codes (AA, AAA, Costco, Wal-Mart, etc.) and the cheapest price I found was $264 for a Full-sized car for 10 days (not a bad price). When I used the USAA site, the price quoted was $176 plus I could upgrade to a PREMIUM CAR for free (Premium Cars were listed for over $600 with other codes).

I just got off the phone with USAA and they have removed the ability for non "P&C" members to use the shopping & discounts section (you have to be eligible for their insurance products in order to use their car rental discounts now).
Please explain. I am a USAA member, I do not carry their insurance, just have a Visa and I just logged on to their website and I still have access to the car rental links. I also get the insurance discounts by mail???
GINORMOUS GREEN to you OP! I reserved a car at BWI from 5/17-5/20. Costco's lowest price through their options was Alamo at about $185. Budget with the USAA code got me a midsize vehicle for $83. This deal saved me a hundred dollars. And yes, I am a USAA member.
I think this really depends on location. For Seattle in August, USAA is $80 more expensive than the Costco link to Hertz. (On the exact same car of course).
I can't seem to find anything from Budget when looking to pick up from SFO. I usually use www.Entertainment.com since I bought the book and my membership nets me great deals from National.
