rajthebam said:My parents are planning to go to India in October – Nov of this year leaving from EWR Newark to Ahmedabad. They are flexible enough to land at Bombay if it’s a big diff. in price but in that case I would like to know also how they can get to Ahmedabad cost effectively from Bombay if they land in Bombay. What would be the

1. best price they can get?
2. should they tinker around with their dates to get cheapest deal possible?
3. when should they be looking to buy? Around what time? One month or two month ago or now?
4. what do you suggest landing in Bombay or ahmedabad? We have one relative in Bombay who can pick us up fm airport and then spending one night in Bombay, they can catch may be shatabdi express train to ahmedabad the next day? Let me know what you think. Thanks.

The approx price difference between EWR/JFK to BOM and AMD in same airlines is as follows Kuwait(+50), Air-India(+100), Jet Airways (+145).
The price difference between Lowest price for Bombay (in Northwest) and Lowest price for Ahmedabad (in Kuwait) is around (+150).

I suggest, forget $50-$100 difference because saving this $50-$100, is not actually saving but trading headaches and time (in train) Vs $50-$100. If you are ready to travel in train from Bombay to Ahmedabad, then it's better you take JFK to Ahmedabad Kuwait Airways direct flight (JFK> Kuwait > Ahmedabad). You can make $100 some other way but it will give comfort with 23 x 2 kg begs. ok ?

Salaam Namaste !!

This is PatelFromIndia, asking for help.

A girl from Little Rock, Arkansas, whose mother has died and going to Hyderabad in emergency, has stuck on New York Airport due to yesterday’s bad weather. Cannot find any alternative flight. I am in touch with her since she called for help on Tuesday night. Today morning Emirates given her alternative flight which will start tonight 11:00pm. As her mother died and her Delta flight directed to Richmond,VA instead of New York yesterday night, Since yesterday night 2:00AM she started to look for hotel but no success. Since Tuesday she has hardly got 2 hour sleep. By not having sleep since Tuesday, We have fear that if she gone in to sleep once, she is not going to wake-up herself. Is there anyone from New York, who can do any help to find/arrange a hotel close to Airport? (as lots of Indian's in motel business) Pl. help, at least when someone has died.

She is from Little Rock, due to family emergency need, her story took turn like...
No flight was available from Little Rock on Tuesday, so we issued ticket for Dallas to Hyderabad. route was like

LIT to Dallas (seperate Southwest Ticket) -- Dallas to New York (Delta) -- New York to Dubai (Emirates) -- Dubai to Hyderabad (Emirates).

Due to bad weather delay in Dallas and in New York, following is how her changed route now...

Lit to Dallas (on time) -- Dallas to New York flight started late, due to weather diverted and landed to Richmond,VA --From Richmond, VA same flight arrived at 2:00am at night at New York instead of 8:30pm original time.-- Lost 27th June Emirates JFK to Hyderabad flight, Now no more space in today's Dubai to Hyderabad flight so, after long discussion, Emirates given her tonight JFK to Dubai to Chennai flight (instead of Hyderabad) -- Chennai to Hyderabad seperate ticket now...

I am sure, she lost last chance to see her mother's face by now...It was also sad and touchable, when she called first time and was crying on phone....Please help and let's think outside of Bun.

Hey guys,

I just wanted to tell everybody about my experience with Mudra Travels (contact through PatelFromIndia).

Yesterday night, around 10pm I found out that my uncle in india has passed away and that my father needed to go to india as soon as possible. I contacted Patel at around that time, using the contact I found on FatWallet. I knew it was going to be a very expensive trip to have to leave in the next day or two, but I was hoping to find a travel agent that wasn't going to take advantage of me. I also contacted another travel agent, just so I had an idea of what other travel agents were charging. Once I contacted Patel and explained my father's situation of having to leave in the next day or two, he assured me that he would work on it all night. From that minute onwards he worked to find me a ticket. He gave me hourly updates and, at around 2 AM that morning, he called to let me know he had found a ticket at a very reasonable price. The next morning, I had an email with the itenerary and I just had to confirm the seats. I was also contacted the next morning by another travel agent who gave me a price much higher than Patel. I'm amazed at the fast service that Patel provided me. I know many other agents would have taken advantage of my situation and charged me extremely high fees, but Patel didn't do that. He put me on a very respectable airline and got my dates perfectly. I'm more than impressed with the service and his genuine concern for my situation. I recommend him to any person looking to travel. If anybody needs more information about my experience with Patel, you're welcome to contact me by PM.

Thanks so much Patel!

Good News

Kuwait Airways always have lower price for USA to India, till now Hyderabad passengers were unable to take benefit of Kuwait Airways lowest price because Kuwait Airways does not go to Hyderabad.

As per the agreement signed yesterday night, Now Kuwait Airways flights,

(1) allowed to increase Kuwait to India weekly seats quota from 8300 to 12000
(2) allowed to start new service to Hyderabad
(3) allowed to start new service to Calcutta
(4) allowed to start new service to Bangalore and three other cities..

This is really good news.

Till date, only complain I have heard about Kuwait Airways is: they overdoes regional language announcements/customs in the flight.

Genius069 said:Has anyone ever flown on Jet Airways from the states to india? Just wondering how their service is.Jet Airways: xxx > Newark to Mumbai same flight > xxx is starting from 5th August onwards daily flight. Flight is taking stop for Fuel and Gas in BRUSSELS, BELGIUM (BRU) for 2 hour. Till date I have heard praise for Jet Airways service quality for in-flight food and service for London to Bombay. In Ame'ricka, When domestic airlines is giving 8 peanuts, in India Jet Airways even serves hot Idali-Sambhar with dessert in domestic flight, So I assume their Newark to Mumbai service will also be good, and they will have to, as they are in competition with Air-India and Continental from EWR airport. Currently, Jet Airways has made contract with Continental to bring passenger from US domestic airport to EWR airport. Price is also good. In past people have mentioned that you "CAN" do thruout checking for Mumbai to India domestic transfer at Mumbai airport. This is the only one point where Jet Airways lags behind to become "people's choice", At Mumbai Airport, they can not do passenger transfer like Air-India (on same terminal), technical reason behind this is: All the Air-India flights which is going to Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore etc are actually International flights which is coming from one or another International city to Mumbai and all these flights are making "meeting" at Mumbai International Airport, on Jet Airways side, their domestic connection flights are not International flight as it's starts from domestic airport so passenger needs to use shuttle between International terminal to domestic terminal. The day, when they will have Air-India type Interconnected network, Air-India's days will be over.

People often thinks that If Lufthansa, Northwest can fly directly to Hyderabad, Why Air-India can not fly directly to Hyderabad? reason is Air-India is using Mumbai airport as a junction to bring passenger from all the direction to Mumbai and then sort out them from there...

Those who know politics behind recent Kuwait Airways expansion in India, it was very interesting, Indian Civil Aviation was not giving permission to Kuwait Airways for expansion as it was affecting Air-India bussiness and finally Kuwait authority pressed nose by declaring ban for Air-India and Indian Airlines flights to Kuwait and then Indian Civil Aviation opened mouth to allow Kuwait Airways expension.

Welcome back, It was nice to see you in the forum again.

When someone is coming from India to USA, it is recommanded to check price first in India and then in USA. Generally, price can be cheaper in India, but sometime USA person either (1) do not want to give trouble to passenger in India to find tickets, like son in USA do not want to give trouble to aged parents in India (2) or the person who is in USA, is sponsering tickets, in that case buying ticket from USA is also ok (as long as there is no big price difference). As currency rate has gone down, (45 Rs to 40 Rs) down means 5 Rs per dollar down, means for approx $1500 ticket, it's 7500 Rs lower then before. In short, price difference gap between Indian price and USA price is reducing now. So start "project" from checking price in India, compare it with USA agent price and take final decision. Sometime, it also happens that agent in India is not enough expert to search for lowest price ticket by doing different combinations and agent in USA finds it, in that case USA ticket price comes lower.

As I mentioned in past, In USA, schools are opening during first week of September, so all the family who went to India during summer vacation are coming back during mid August to September first week, so from India to USA flight's all show are "House Full" for this time period in lowest price seat quota. It's getting tough now to find lower price (India to USA) seat during that period. forget the seat in "upper","balcony" or "box" So to get best price either call relatives before mid August or after 12th September.

PFI, quick question, about Jet. Wil they allow passengers to book luggage from any indian domestic airport to all the way to destination port of entry? To elaborate, say someone buy the ticket in Jet for HYD-BOM-JFK flight. Can he check his main baggage at HYD domestic with JET and forget about it till JFK? If JET does nto allow that, who else? I heard Air India does that in its recent non-stop flights but I may be wrong.

I heard Air India does that in its recent non-stop flights but I may be wrong.Yes, that's thru-out check-in which Jet Airways is using. Upon checking at Hyderabad, Jet Airways can do thru-out checking till EWR. Jet Airways routes your lugguage at Mumbai airport based on lugguage tag on it. What I heard is even this is not only limited to "Jet domestic" to "Jet International" but it's also working out for "Jet domestic" to Northwest/British/Delta/Air-India connection in Mumbai. It's all in the hand of person who handles check-out.

When we are talking about thru-out checking subject, I would like to inform that, if passenger is aged or woman travelling alone with infant, passenger can request thru out checking till last destination in USA (beyond US Gateways). So for example, travelling from Baroda>Mumbai>New York>Tempa, passenger can give lugguage at Baroda and can get it at Tempa, without doing customs at New York. Passenger only have to collect lugguage at New York, if custom officer announce their name. I have seen this working out in special cases.
