Most travelers have heard of Rick Steves and his travel books, videos and travel programs on PBS. He's now adding free audio walking tour guides that can be downloaded through his website or iTunes. So far he only has 4 for Paris locations. There's instructions and a map (PDF) you can print to follow along.

I'm going to be going to Ireland shortly and there're podcasts for Dublin walks too.

Lots of free tour podcasts out there besides Rick Steves:

1. http://www.podguides.net/downloads/downloads.html -- lots of destination choices, but quality may be hit/miss because these are tours recorded by users and uploaded to the site.

2. http://www.budgettravelonline.com/ has some free podcasts for download, including audio tours for Las Vegas and Quebec City.

Some good pay-per-download sites: http://www.ijourneys.com/, http://www.soundwalk.com/, http://www.audisseyguides.com/.

Two more FREE travel guide download sites worth checking out:

http://ipod.wcities.com/
* Put any of our 300 cities on your iPod FOR FREE
* Detailed descriptions and address info for thousands of hotels, restaurants, attractions, events, and more!
* Guides that detail neighborhoods, accomodations, tours, etc.

Hi,

Lots of information of destinations of united states. Information include area information, travel guide, attractions, must-see, activities. Destinations include Florida (Orlando, Disney, Davenport), California (Big Bear Lake, Los Angeles, Palm Springs, Santa Barbara), Colorado (Aspen, Breck), Hawaii (Kailua Kona), etc. Visit Here

There are some pretty decent articles, tips, budget travel info and newsfeeds on SE Asian destinations (Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, etc) at This Site - apparently geared more to Thailand, but I found some of the articles pretty good.

Regards,

Kevin

thanks for the info

sending Parents to London on the way back home, anyone know of a tour company that would show them around london, arrange for stay and put them back at the airport ?
many thanks.

I know Travelistic has videos from BCPictures, CityGuide, and Focus, all of which are short video guides to different places.

Another one is Travel & Leisure, which I think always has good links.

Outside of this, my favorite guide books are Lonely Planet and Rough Guides.

Hope this helps!

Do you like wikipedia? Do you like traveling?

Then here's Wikitravel !! User edited travel guides.

If you're interested in the Bahamas this site is amazing: http://www.bahamavention.com/bahamavention/
It's really funny, you can check out the Bahamavention commercials - they've posted them on there. Great if you're board at work and need a break, I just got back to work after a break for the holidays and am already in need...

Does anyone know where to find more information on Barcelona and Budapest? (places to eat, things to see, shopping, etc.)

I used this website's beachguide on a recent trip to the big island of Hawaii. I found the information to very accurate for the most part. It pointed me to Honaunau Bay, outstanding snorkeling. The only fault I found was it rated a beach in downtown Kailua as very good. I thought it was mediocre at best. Good place for little ones but that's about it. It includes a picture which of course doesn't do some of the places justice. But overall I would highly recomend it. Nice thing too is that it lists all the ammenities that are there.

I found that website. It's good for some useful informations about the popular destinations.

I always go for Linky, you can get recommendations from various travelers and decide based on that.

Keep it growing...

I spent almost 10 months in Europe. I had some Rick Steves books, in addition to either Rough Guides or Lonely Planet. One tip in a long trip is that it's best take out sections from Rick Steve's books instead of bringing the whole book.

I’ve decided to go learn French France and was wondering if anyone has any tips? I’m studying Spanish in Spain at the moment and have already found cheap Barcelona hostels so am prepared – would seem I can get to most of France easily and economically from here. So what I’d like to know is where to go…I have to give similar advice to my Spanish friends wanting a curso ingles – I always recommend places like Oxford over Dublin because the accent is clearer – is there a specific place in France where I would find it learning/comprehending easier? Paris maybe? I have heard the Parisian French accent is very clear but on the other hand, I imagine it to be a very cosmopolitan city and I don’t want to be able to easily meet English speakers – too easy to escape speaking French and cheat by using English all the time! I experienced this in a short language course I did in Granada – everyone around spoke English and it was difficult to practise new found language skills! All advice would be welcome – I’m there for 6 weeks and so long enough to take advantage of one of France’s great cities to the maximum!

Any suggestions on places to visit at Puerto Rico. I am planning for 3 day trip and open to all out door activities. I will be landing at San Juan airport.

Thanks

My co-worker just walked past my desk as I clicked the link!
