I just checked on cruisecompete for a quote for the fantasy. It was $784 with all taxes and fees included for an Inside guaranty. That will save you a few bucks if you choose this cruise. |

punt -- Thanks for the info. Question for you: How did you go about checking the # of cabins still available on the ship? Did you just go to "choose a stateroom" and see how many were listed? Thanks! |

That's excatly how you do it.
Only takes a few minutes to scan all the categories.
I noticed the sailing on the 21st for the Fantasy is down to $329.
I saw 14 insides and 12 outsides left as of this morning.
Also if you are a past cruiser, rates are even lower. |

Curious-- does RCCL match price drops right up until you cruise, or only until you've paid in full? Seems like the big price drops come within 30 days, when those already booked have paid and can't cancel without a huge penalty, which doesn't give you much leverage with the cruise line...
RCL & Celebrity will generally reduce right up until you cruise. If you booked directly with RCL or Celebrity, it's usually no problem. If you booked with a travel agent, some agents will say that it can't be done, but they're usually just too lazy to do the paperwork -- and maybe reduce their commission! |

I have used Cruise Quick (www.cruisequick.com) before. There prices use to be very good but the last few times I had checked them I was able to find better prices elsewhere through other sites and cruisecompete.com (always try cruisecompete.com, nothing lost and often a better deal). Cruise Quick will not baby you but if you can pick a date and ship on your own they can quote it. No problems when I did use it. |

Hi cruisers, I got a nice quote for a category 12 suite (it will be our honeymoon) that includes the cruise fare, port charges, and all taxes. However, it appears that it doesn't include insurance... Forgive me ignorance, but how common is it to NOT get insurance? If it is absolutely necessary, should I shop around and get it through an outside vendor or directly from the cruiseline, and/or what should I expect to pay for a 5 day cruise..? TIA!! |

TIA!! We always buy insurance. It's fairly inexpensive for the peace of mind we receive. In addition to the health coverage for yourself, the insurance can cover cancellations and delays. We use Insure My Cruise. We look for policies that are Primary (vs. Secondary) and that have a good medivac amount. Depending upon where you are going, your existing health insurance may/may not cover you. Check that first, then you will have a better idea as to what limits you will need for the cruise policy. |

I booked a cruise last week from a quote that I got on cruisecompete...it was from Best Price Cruises...I got an email confirmation after the order was placed, but haven't heard anything since. How do cruises work? Will I get a "ticket" in the mail? Any other information I will get or just the confirmation. Thanks. |

With most cruise lines you will receive a booklet in the mail about 1 to 2 months before your cruise. If it was with Norwegian Cruise Line, they will email you your documents. You can probably take your cruise line reservation number and go to the cruise companies website to book excursions and other cruise related items. Head over to Cruise Critic where you can learn more about your cruise and ports and also meet people that will be on your cruise. |

Thanks, I've actually been looking at cruise critic today. I'm going on Norwegian Pearl, but not until February. Edit: Just logged on to NCL website and used reservation number to find my reservation...the room number that they show is different than the one that i booked through bestpricecruises....anyone else experience this...i actually think I like the location better of the one that ncl gave us...

I just got an email from Royal Caribbean about a one day sale for October 17th. If you book with them on that day, you'll only have to pay half the normal deposit. Plus, each booking gets some free onboard credit: 3-5 nights $50 per stateroom 6-9 nights $100 per stateroom 10+ nights $200 per stateroom |

Norwegian has really been agressively pricing many of their repositioning and Caribbean sailings. Right now they're doing $299/pp inside on a Transatlantic Barcelona to Boston, 9 nites. Balcony rooms are only $499./pp That would be sailing on the Gem, Norwegians brand new ship complete with bowling alley, etc. |
