We used our rewards comps from MGM and Harrah's for our last day. Had great meals only had to pay the tip. Hope this helps |

Hi, my friend just got a Diamond Card at Harrah's, and was wondering if any of you other Diamond Card holders ask, and receive, room/food/show comps different from the offers that Harrah's sends you. If so, what would be the best way to ask? After you play a little bit, or would you just walk up to a host, show them the diamond card, and see what they can give you. Thanks. |

If your friend doesnt have a full room comp, meaning if he/she stays for 4 days and only has 2 days comped, it usually pays off to wait until the end of your stay and then, rather than doing electronic check out, tell him/her to go to the check out counter and have any additonal credits applied to the room charges. Depending on the amount of gambling done, there could be a sizable discount! Don't worry about this effecting future mail offers, because I do it all the time, and they are always offering me plenty of free stays, even if I use up all my points during my last stay. Besides, if you dont use them they will expire. As for show tickets, the best deals are always the places along the strip that offer two for one tickets. Usually, if you have pre-purchased tickets before getting to Vegas, your not going to have much luck finding great seats at a good price anyway. The two for one places get many of the remaining unsold tickets on the date of the show. But it NEVER hurts to ask for a Host. If your friend is Diamond, a Host will be happy to assist in ways you may not even imagine, including spa treatments, private pool cabanas, dinner, cigarettes, night club passes, VIP seating, and more. I have been pleasantly surprised with many rewards! Hope this helps! |

I wish I saw this thread a few weeks ago! I was at the Excalibur with a bunch of friends, got the MGM Player's Club Card. I ended up getting comped $14 at the sandwich place, I guess that's all right considering I was playing $5 and $10 Blackjack tables for long stretches. Definitely want to go back immediately though...I love Vegas. |

Here is some info I found at another site... One way to increase your room offers (discounts and comps) is to only play at one Harrah's property per trip and NEVER play at multiple casinos during the same day. The Harrahs computer calculates your play and offers based your average daily theoretical. The computer calculates your average per trip. Technically, you can make multiple trips in the same day. Let's say you gamble and lose $100 on the first day of your vacation. You lose $99 at Bally's, then go over to the Flamingo and lose $1 in a machine. So, you just made two trips. If you would have stopped playing at Bally's, your average daily theoretical would have been $99. Now, divided over two trips, your ADT is $50. |

I stayed 3 nights at Imperial Palace (i know, it's kinda crappy), gambled a couple of hundred, and for more than a year now, I get free room offers almost monthly. Invites to free slot tourney's too. I think some of the "lesser" hotels are more aggressive with the comps. Good luck. |

PaulatMich said: On another note, the free room offers you receive in the mail are NOT comps, they are simply marketing programs designed to get you back. Harrahs is one of the best at this. They figure that if you play blackjack for $25 a hand for an hour in their casino, that you leave Harrahs and go to the MGM Grand and play there for 3 hours, so they give you free room offers to get you to come back and play for 4 hours in their casino. It's strictly a marketing program, and has nothing to do with comps.
I probably have to disagree with you about the free rooms offered by marketing. They are considered comps. Really, how does marketing get the information they need to supply you with those offers? If they just sent everyone and anyone who stepped into their casinos the typical 2-3 free day comps at the nice hotels, then the hotel would be fully booked with people who gamble little or not enough to sustain a profit for them. They send the good free day marketing comps to folks who actually gamble a decent amount of money at their casino. Last time I went to Vegas, I probably rolled $5000 through the slots machines ( I came out losing a few hundred, but I planned this), never did I play any table games, including craps... none.... What did I receive within a month after the trip? 6 different hotel free room comp offers from the MGM family of casinos. Yes, I just played slots all dang long, primarily at Bellagio, Mirage, MGM Grand, New York New York, TI, etc... Most of the mailed comped offers were 2-4 free days and $75 to $200 in free play and free meals at their perspective buffet, and these are the nice hotels with rooms costing $150 to $399 a night, yes, this includes the Bellagio. All the information they needed was my play history on my player's card account. And who used that information? Marketing... The marketing offers are comps, pure and simple. If one plays a lot of money at their casinos, they want you back. Whether they hand it to you at the playing tables, or through the mail, they are comps. The main difference is that YOU have to work a little harder at the tables to make sure the pit boss sees you play, make sure that the clock you in and clock out, and make sure you play big enough hands when they hover around you. This makes earnign comps a dull... Aren't you there to have fun and not have to worry about the pit boss seeing you play. You have enough eyes on you already from "Eyes in the Sky" cameras...geez... why stress yourself out? Me, on the hand, I JUST played $0.25 and $1 slots, nothing higher. I play various machine, drink all the free alcohol flying around, have a blast with ym friends. All at the same time, all my play information gets tracked on my players card. I don't have to worry about some pit boss or betting big hands when the pit boss walks around. Plus, along with all those free comps I keep getting in my mail, during my stay, I just walk up to the player club desk DAILY, soemtimes twice a day, and they hand me 2 free buffets at the Bellagio. TI, or whereever I am playing at... Having fun playing what I like to play, not having to worry about some pit boss, staying for free, eating for free...you're here to have fun and party, not to earn comps. Comp is just a nice perk that you should enjoy, not something you need to 'fine tune' and work over some pit boss. Geez, if you wanted to play pretend and act like your betting more and putting on a show for that vegas pit bosses, how is that difference from you back at real like work and pretending you're doing more then you are and putting on a show for your JOB boss? |

PaulatMich is right. I'm a not considered a high roller but I do receive the same offers for free rooms, free play, etc. What I do notice that depending on your play, they give you certain offers, BUT you are still earmarked to gamble x amount of dollars to back up your offers. For example, my friend who played 500+ per hand for 8 - 12 hours a day, was offered free rooms, free food, shows, limo, etc. But when he booked it and went this time around, he didn't play as much as the previous trips. When he went to see about getting the food, etc comped, he was told by his host that he was "over-comped" and didn't not play at the level that they (MGM) comped him for. He ended getting his rooms, and most of his food comped, but not totally as he got last time. I've and he, has noticed that MGM properties have been getting very stingy on their comps lately. It's not the free comping times anymore. |

I have to say me and my husband went to Vegas back in September and between the both of us we lost $500 at Harrahs. In November we received comps for a 2 night midweek stay good for Dec., Jan., Feb. and April. It was good for Rio, Bally's, Flamingo, and Harrahs and a discounted rate for Caesars and Paris. So we didn't have to spend a lot to get comps |

Just got back from Vegas and here is what I learned from my experience. I gambled at the MGM and after 1000 points I went up to players club desk and asked what I could do with my points. She said I could use them for points play which gave me $10.00 free play. They also gave me $10.00 in free play after that. I earned another 1000 points and was given a buffet. At the Wynn I signed up for a players card and received $10.00 free play which I then used on video roulette and earned first buffet at 25 points and second buffet at 50 points. Next one earned is at 500 points. You can earn fast points at mgm, new york new york and Wynn by using the video roulette machines and playing just black and red. But you can lose money if it hits zero. |

Here are the results of some of my attempts to get things comped in Vegas: Stayed at the Palazzo from 2/23 - 2/26 Tipped the front desk lady $20 to upgrade to a room with a view (and she gave us one of the best views in the hotel). Also received a free desert coupon for some beignets at the Grand Lux cafe (DELICIOUS!!!!) which was probably worth $10-12. My buddy and I played mostly slots during our stay. He lost about $350, I lost closer to $550. We signed up for Club Grazie before getting there and my buddy racked up a little over 4,000 points while there. I ended up around 6,000 points. Palazzo has great promotions for first time guests. For 4,000 points, you get $75 in slot credit which is something like double the usual rate. As an added bonus, redeeming these points doesn't actually cost you any of your points (only applies on the first visit). So, we were able to get our $75 slot credits, but we saved our points for our next trip. You also receive a free 2 night stay if you hit 3,000 points on your first trip, which both of us did. You also get free entry into some slot tournament. Tournaments are held every month or so, depending on how busy the casino is. Before checking out, I made sure to speak with a casino host to try and get some more comps. I know we didn't lose very much (not by the standards of their typical clientele), but it was worth a shot. Unfortunately, since it's a large casino they have many hosts, and I wasn't able to find the same one that I had previously met. My advice is to meet a host as soon as you arrive, and continue meeting different ones during your visit. This gives you a better chance of speaking with a host you know when you check out. We didn't get anything comped from the host, but we didn't spend very much. I had about $250 in charges to my room (mostly food and drink) and my buddy and I combined for over 10,000 Club Grazie points. The host said they were looking for a higher average bet though, which is understandable, since we mostly played nickel and penny slots. All in all, it was a great trip. We stayed within our budget and the hotel was fantastic. We're definitely looking forward to our invitations back. |

LittleNicky said:Anyone notice that Harrah's changed their offers around? I had a ton of offers for free 4 night stays throughout the summer and then I checked recently, and they reduced it to free 2 night stays? I've checked with a few other people and they saw the same thing. Anyone run into this with Harrah's? Are they reducing their rewards all of a sudden? Harrahs mailed offers (rooms, cash, free slot tournies) are based on ADT (average daily theoretical). Here's a few rules to remember if u play at Harrahs: *If you're staying a few nights at a property but only play a couple hours per day try to do ONLY one marathon session on ONE day...do NOT dilute your ADT by spreading your play among several days. *If you're playing in a market with multiple Harrahs properties (Vegas, AC or Tunica) do NOT play at multiple properties in one day. Focus on one property per day. Playing at multiple properties on the same day will dilute your ADT. *Do NOT redeem comp points (Reward Credits) if you are NOT playing. This will "trip" you and dilute your ADT thereby lowering the value of your future mailed offers. *If you're with your spouse (or any friend/family member for that matter), you should ALL play on the SAME card, thus lumping play from the two of you on one account. You can get multiple cards printed at Total Rewards. There is no law prohibiting you from playing on someone else's account. Just remember that if YOU hit the jackpot ($1200 or more), YOU have to take the W2-G tax form, reglardless of the card that was inserted into the machine at that time. I could go on and on how to maximize your Harrahs offers but all you really need to focus on is ADT, ADT, ADT with Harrahs.... |

Have to agree that Harrah's is the best for room comps... During my last trip (February) I ran about $450 coin-in through slots at The Rio ($100 total out of my pocket) and now am getting comped 5 nights at Paris next month! If you are a Total Rewards Card holder then you really need to sign up online to get the best offers! |

I went from casnio to Casnio!!! DANG!!! Also, Harrah's points expire after 6 months if no activity (this now includes IP) Palms told me 2 years with no activity Suncoast, Goldcoast etc 18 months Sahara told me 18 months Golden nugget 18 months Slots for Fun &Circus Circus- 18 months Also- many only rate table game players at $25 a hand Oh and tip the dealers if you win! I got a buffet without asking because I tipped my roulette dealer evrytime I won. |

This will keep your points active. 2) Send your TR player's card to a friend who lives near a Harrahs where you do NOT play. Have them earn one point. Be sure NOT to do this at a property where u receive valuable mail. The one point trip will kill your ADT. Regarding tipping the dealer, I would advise not to go overboard. Most comp systems now are automated and your comp balance for table games is strictly based on avg bet X house edge X time played. Sure the pit boss can fudge your rating but don't expect too much juice just by tipping. What you tip could quickly equal the cash price of that buffet. |
