Have read the thread on getting upgraded in Las Vegas. I'm going to a company convention where company is buying like 200-300 rooms. Do I stand no chance then to get upgraded with the $50 / $100 desk clerk trick?

I am a first timer! I am going to Vegas Sunday July 22-27. My husband has a work thing and will be there too, but not staying with us. I have booked a room at the Excalibur for $51.00/night, thanks to fw. Going to try to $20.00 tip trick. Hopefully I’ll have success! I am going with my 2 year old and in-laws. I am flying from MSP and have found the cheapest airfare directly from Sun country for $236 roundtrip. Any tips/deals with children's tickets? I have never been to Vegas, anything I MUST do? What about Hoover? Any good tours? Deals? Should I wait until I get there? We plan on shopping, sitting by the pool, doing kid friendly activities and hopefully some night life. (That's why the in-laws) Any suggestions. Off the beaten path stuff? I love great, cheap food! The stuff locals go for. I am going to buy the coupon book I think. Anyone ever use the Las Vegas Entertainment Book, I was thinking about buying that too. Anything would be well received! Thanks in advance.

Try to book your flight with www.hobbittravel.com. I am going in May and it was about $50 cheaper than booking with Sun Country directly and it's the exact same flight.

I wouldn't waste your time going to the Hoover Dam. IT's a Giant piece of concrete in the middle of the desert. Whoopdeeedooo... Your kids will hate you for making them go. It's sooooo boring. IMO...

World Fair buffet at Rio. Go late in the afternoon to get in for lunch price but stay for dinner.

LOL! That's what I said to a co-worker about 10 years ago... He then spent the next three hours (or was it days, maybe weeks) explaining the magnificent engineering feat and every detail on how it was built, why it was built, how much water it holds, how much electricity it produced, blah, blah...

If you're in Vegas and want to see the dam. Drive by, take pic's and keep going until you get to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Spend the night and drive back the next day.

Thanks for the info! I have been to the Grand Canyon before. I loved it. I really have not decided if I’m going to Hoover or not. I like to see new things. Thanks for everything! Keep it coming! I looked into Hobbit Travel and GREAT deals! Thanks a ton!

Dates of Travel: April 25 - April 29 (4 nights), 2 people, 1 room
Destination: Caesars Palace
Budget: I'd like for the hotel to be about $1,000 or less total with taxes.
From: Portland, OR (I don't mind paying hotel and airfare separate, unless theres a good package deal)

I've looked just about everywhere, including Kayak, which basically has the same rates as Harrah's.com. OneTravel.com says there are no rooms available. Orbitz seems to have the best PACKAGE deal, but the hotel room is still about $1,200 - $1,300 total. The Hot Deal page on Caesars Palace is the best deal at $1,133, but I'd like to go lower if possible.

I don't mind getting the most basic room, I'll probably end up upgrading once I get there, unless there's also a good deal for the Palace or Augustus Towers. I'd like to take advantage of the Best Rate Guarantee but I haven't seen anything cheaper that their Hot Deal's ($1,133).

I've searched and found this thread: http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/messageview.php?catid=63&threadid=696697&highlight_key=y&keyword1=caesars, and went to the Web sites mentioned but did not find anything.

Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance!

when you move to mgm the bell desk will hold your luggage untill your room is ready. you may be able to check in at 11am you never know all you can do is try. but the belldesk will give you a luggage ticket this will give you the ability to use facilitys in the hotel untill your room is ready. When i moved from the trop to treasure island i could check in straight away that was about 20 past 11 so its probly pot luck. have fun and good luck.

thank you
I will try and see if i have any luck.

Why are you so hung up on staying at Caesers, I mean its not that great of a hotel for the price. There are a lot of other strip hotels that will meet your price goals for that date. I always use this blog for booking If you look you can get those 4 nights at MGM for $860 pretax and some free add on bonuses like 2 for 1 spa certificate and $25 bar and restuarant credit. There are also a lot of other hotels to stay at on the strip in the same class for less than what you were getting. I mean unless there is some specific reason you have to or really want to stay at caesers.

I'd like to be mid-strip. MGM, Bay and Luxor are too far down south. Although the difference isn't that big, I've stayed at the Bay and Luxor and what I save on taxi fare's makes up for the extra room price.

I actually may consider the MGM though, there are some great deals during that time. Thanks for the tip!

I actually found a flight (from Portland, OR) and hotel package for about $1,600 w/ taxes at Caesars. Good deal? The dates are still April 25th - 29th.

anyone know how to get good deals on rooms with a jacuzzi or hot tub for end of may. Or how to even find good deals on rooms with hot tubs period.

Wrong Dates, deleted.

I have a bit of a strange request......I'm looking for a decent deal on a "fancy" dinner. I'm trying to impress someone and my budget for a dinner is about $120 or so for two people. I've only been to Vegas once so I'm not too familiar with the casinos etc. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Stay away from Smith & Wollensky. They are located close to MGM. Food was terrible, service was worse. $250 for family of 4 w/no alcohol.

Top of the World @ Stratosphere is really cool (girls would say romantic). Should be in your price range, food is kind of hit or miss...sometimes is good, sometimes not so good. But you can't beat the view.

There is always the old standby of Ruth's Chris.

Do not go to the Top of the World Restaurant, as previously mentioned. Yes the view is great but the food is not, and it is overpriced. If it is a good meal you are looking for at a reasonable price, go to the Steakhouse at Circus Circus. I know, Circus Circus is a dump, but the Steakhouse is fantastic, and you should be able to have a nice meal in your price range. You won't get too far with $120 at most fancy restaurants in the larger hotels in Vegas. Trust me you, and the person you take will love the meal here (assuming you enjoy steak)

this is almost in your budget...

Morton’s The Steakhouse is inviting guests to experience the $69 “Classic Combination Dinner,” which includes a single-cut filet mignon served with béarnaise sauce and steamed fresh asparagus, (use to include a choice of an Australian lobster tail but that part has been discontinued) two Alaskan king crab legs, and your choice of salad. Wow, what a deal! If you’ve never dined at Morton’s, this is the perfect opportunity to find out what all the fuss is about it! For more information and reservations, please call (702) 893-0703.

Luv Tub rooms at the Imperial Palace

Ok Just got back from VEGAS!!!! We stayed March 3rd - March 6th. On March3rdwe were at the Strat. I decided to try the $20 trick found a female that was open and tried TOTALY SHOT DOWN!!!!! The room was sub par and the employees were really not helpful and did not want to be there. The only part good about the hotel was in casino card comps. but you cant use your 100 in fre money for 10 days. and I dont know about the rest of you but I only go once a year.We switched to the Aladdin on the 4th to stay for 2 nights. I was ready to try again with the 20 trick. Went to a man and the twenty vanished!!!! He looked at my ID and said your from Illinois? I am from there. little small talk, and then he said this is what I can do for you, how about a room on the 44th floor looking at the fountains! I was very excited and said thank you very much. When we got to the room it was a SUITE with a view of the fountains and a balcony! The staff was WONDERFUL friendly and would do anything for you. When we went to check out and settle up our bill------ I was told Mrs Taylor I hope you had a wonderful time and thank you for staying with us please sign here.... I looked down at the total of the bill and it was $0.00!!! Both nights had been comped and the dinner we charged to the room was also comp , they even comped the $5.00 bottle of watermy husband drank! We are not big spenders we only played about $600 for the 3 days and were treated like we were VIP! The players card reps were great! They knew we were leaving the next morning early and offered us cash instead of the meal credit that we had earned. You can also spin each day for a chance to win $1,000 in a 5 min free tourney of slots.( sadly we did not win) There is also a chance to pull a slot once a day to win prizes and 2 million ( again we didn't win) They were still working on the casino and the outside of the building but you really didn't notice the construction workers unless it was 5 am and then you saw them, yes we were up all night only slepted 6 hours of the whole trip. What a waste of a great room!!!!!!

Hi nnutmeg67, sorry if i'm being a bit slow but where did you end up staying?

D

Hi-
I've read through all the steps and would love some help!

I am planning a study abroad reunion trip in vegas with about 8 people... we are all around 22 years old and want to get a huge suite so we can all crash together

DATES: May 25th- 28th

we're trying to obviously spend the least amount of money necessary but also get a sweet ass room... kinda impossible i know. when i was younger my family and i stayed at some crazy venetian suite with double doors and 2 bedrooms. is it difficult to find suites like that that arent ridiculous prices?

thanks for the help!

Rio is an all suite hotel.....the prices are not too bad IMO.

You're gonna be hard pressed to cram 8 people in one room! They have maximum occupancy rules and they can be strictly enforced at times. Your best bet is to get two rooms with two queen beds each.

don't they have suites with like 2 bedrooms or something?

or like one bedroom with a separate living room? so u can have like 3 queens up in there?

Memorial Weekend is a heck of a time to look for a deal on a Suite.

8 people in any room is a lot, suite or not. Consider getting three standard or deluxe rooms at an off-strip property. Most likely, your dates are blacked out from any promos. You are probably looking at at least $100 (with taxes), per room, per night, even at places like the Stratosphere and the Orleans.

Suites at the Strat average $225 (before tax) per night for your dates and you will need two rooms to fit all eight of you relatively comfortably...that assumes you share a queen bed or get them to give you two rollaways. Either way, you are looking at about $75-90 per person, per night.

If you are going to "live" in such close quarters, I hope you know each other pretty well.

Me and my group of college friends are graduating this May and we are trying to plan a pretty legit trip.

We went last year and were a bit out of our league, not bringing enough money and getting hussled by a couple of promoters, etc.

This year we want to get bottle service or VIP so we don't have to wait in the 2 hour lines -- we were considering a Europe trip, but decided to spend the additional cash it would have cost on a minimalistic Europe trip on doing a really good 5 day Vegas trip.

Our tentative plan is to fly into Vegas May 9 and leave the 14th (Monday).

We have found a couple of flights for $200 with taxes out of PBI, but we are trying to figure out where to pay and how to get in on the best fatwallet coupon deals.

Our club plans are to attend 3 of the following on Thurs, Fri, Sat: PURE, Tryst, Body English, and Tao.

We're trying to find a place that is a good crowd for young, hip college kids -- we've been to Hard Rock and been told it's the right scene for us, so if anyone can recommend another hotel like this, that'd be ideal.

I'm a regular on the HD forums, so please go easy on me here -- thanks guys!

Dates: March 30th for 3 nights (Departing April 2nd)

I want something on the strip that isn't Imperial Palace

Here are the best prices I have found so far:

MGM w/ Grand Tower Promo - $360 ($150, $150, $60)
Excalibur with View (View Room) - $373 ($151, $161, $61)
Luxor Pyramid Deluxe - $424 ($175, $185, $65)

Thanks

Adam2004 said: Dates: 3 Nights, dates are flexible, between March 30th and April 8th

Just about any major Hotel on the strip would work for us, we really enjoyed MGM, TI, and of course, Bellagio. I can stay at the Westin for $69 a night (including weekend) but I'm not sure if I want to.

Thanks

Updated my original post with more information.

Ok guys, screw the price I am willing to go all out......I want to take my girlfriend on a very romantic dinner somewhere along the strip. What do you guys recommend? (price does not matter). So far I'm intrigued by the Eiffel Tower restaurant @ paris, Tao @ venetian, alize @ palms, and top of the world @ stratosphere.

Forget the Strat- way over rated!!!!!

Try Tao!!! We loved it worth every penny

Have you found anything else that's cheaper? Buddies and I are actually going the same time you are. Everything seems to be really expensive on the strip (>$300).

I found a couple that are cheaper, Tropicana for $297 and Sahara for $314.

I work for Starwood so I made a reservation at Westin...$69 a night. I'd like to be more on the strip but I don't think I can pass up $69 a night. I might try to get the same deal at Aladdin (also Starwood owned).

I'm going to keep looking for deals, let me know if you find anything good, thanks.

Is the Westin going to give you the Vegas experience? I do not know much about that property, but I never hear anyone talk about it as their property of choice in LV. That is a good rate for a weekend stay, however.

I would book the Tropicana for the price you state you found. Please let us know where and how you got that rate for your dates of travel.

The experience is out on the strip not in your hotel room. With that said, I'd still pay another $200-$300 if I Bellagio or Venetian had something reasonable. Here's the link for the three nights at Tropicana for $299: https://res.tropicanalv.com/cgi-bin/lansaweb?procfun+rn+resnet+r15+funcparms+UP(A2560):;IEMB307;?
