Wow that Code 208890 cut my rate by over Half! I'm trying to book for March 2 2012 to March 7 in Salt Lake City. I'm looking for an All wheel drive or 4 wheel drive so that is a great price. I've been using USAA as I am Retired USAF and I have been a Gold member for several years Using USAA the best I can get is $427. Using that Code I got $204
Hmm, I will have to think about this one for a while.. That's hard to turn down..
Check out USAA (77694) and AAA (1805452) which often gives good discounts. You have to be a member, but USAA is free to sign up.
While USAA primarily caters to the military community, it's actually not necessary to be a member of the military (or family of military personnel) in order to qualify for membership. On their Become a Member page, USAA goes in detail about eligibility requirements. If you look at the very bottom of the page, you'll see Other Individuals, which basically covers everyone else not associated with the military. While your at it might as well check out your insurance rate too..

It says Hertz Retirees
If you are a Hertz Retiree and CAN PROVE IT ...yes. If not....why would you ask such ?????? question. No you can't use if you aren't a HERTZ RETIREE.
sorry, just a newb here
but thanks for the clarification
NP....sure some people use and have no issue BUT with a code like this it is more likely than not you would be asked for proof. If you don't have they don't have to honor quote because it was based on false info you provided. People don't understand this or have blinders on. There are good codes open to all that will get good rates....it takes time and effort. BUT some people won't take that time....and will use codes with insurance included or ones like this...then whine and complain when they get caught. What is worse is the idiots who post the codes and say I have a great code...no issues...open to all to use. Those are the stupidest posters ever.
book now but keep checking ...all companies. no problems in booking..cancel and rebook on trip once I found rates going down a couple times daily.... good luck

DJDon said: out of chance, i saw that hertz rates if I select their UK site are more than 50% less than their US site.
I am renting in florida and US site gave me a rate of 1000+ for the duration I needed the car. The UK site gave me ~295 GPB, I selected pay at store option and it gave me total of ~400 including taxes and everything for the smallest option car. There was no discount applied, this was their standard rate. I am in US.
Anyone knows if there's anything to be concerned about if I complete the reservation from their UK site and pay at pickup? It doesn't ask me for CC info, flight info or anything. Just name and email address for completing the online reservation.
FWIW: I tried the various CDPs mentioned in this thread but the price with the UK site is the best, also these CDPs don't give anything extra with their UK site.
update on this: It worked out smoothly. I had applied some CDP and PC as well and got the "compact" car for 10 days from 12/24 to 01/03 for 370$. This was including insurance and I paid when I reached there using a US credit card.
I did the same thing last summer for a car rental in Italy, the US site was more than double, and
so I rented the car on Hertz Italy site and I used an Italian CDP code found on the Hertz Italy website and they never ? me at all, from now on I always check both sites to see the rates
Can you suggest a corporate rate code that will allow renter between 21 & 24yo to rent at no additional cost. 10 day rental from Melbourne Australia to Townsville, Australia (1,600 miles)
Can you suggest a corporate rate code that will allow renter between 21 & 24yo to rent at no additional cost. 10 day rental from Melbourne Australia to Townsville, Australia (1,600 miles)How to ask for help.
When posting a request, be sure to give all the pertinent info: type of car you would prefer (and what you might settle for); dates and p/u times (along with how flexible you may be on this, and remember there isn't much of a grace period nowadays and that extra hour may cost a LOT) and WHERE you will be picking up and dropping off.
Also, you MUST post a bare minimum of 3 codes and companies from the Matrix thread you have already tried (preferably something you can qualify for) and what the results were for each, including fees and taxes.
Glance at the first page of the thread and thoroughly review the most recent 5-6 pages to see what's working well lately and what topics are under discussion This way, we don't re-create your work; your post may help someone else; and perhaps you will have learned something valuable doing your homework. Remember that this is all volunteer and it's just as much work for the old-timers to plug in the numbers as it is for the newbies. You must make an investment of time if you want to save money.-- pretty much like with everything else.

Posted in the other price matrix thread, but no response. I think prices have gone a bit up but still relatively the same as below.
Can someone find me something better for this please? Budget seems to be having the $120/weekly promotion right now, but $27/day underage fee. I don't need to buy LDW as my credit card provides car rental insurance as one of the perks. mostly all the prices I posted below include all taxes/surcharges. Moving to CA next week; need a weekly rental until I buy a car. thanks.
1. John Wayne Airport (SNA) - Orange County, CA 2. Economy Car (Any car for that matter) 3. 3/11 to 3/18 at 1:45pm 4. Age = 21 5. my affiliations = visa, mastercard, AMEX, car&driver, student, will become new AAA member soon, etc. Can join USAA if need be.

Enterprise: XVC1092 $278.10 USD XVC1093 $278.10 USD 53A1014 $112.13 USD (this one seems risky. for UNCA students only and says only for UNCA location, but it lets me use for CA as well. found at http://publicsafety.unca.edu/parking/student-car-rentals) Should I use this? not a UNCA student but a student at one of the 16 schools under the UNC system.. Under important information about your rental, it says the following: "Mileage Policy: Unlimited miles for all cars up to and including a full size car. Anything above a full size car includes 200 free miles/day and 1400 free miles/week. I joined Hertz in July 2011 & will be renting for the 4th time @ the end of this month. I have spent MANY hours reading all that I can about how to get the best deal possible & spent many more hour trying as many different combinations of CDP/PC that I can find.
I definitely agree with momtoboys in regards to when the best time to make your reservation is. You have nothing to lose by making your reservation as soon as you see a good deal because you can always go back into your reservatiion and apply the better deal. However, if you'hold out' for a better deal, you will more than likely lose out the chance on getting as good of a deal as you can. I have learned this lesson the hard way.
Also...not all CDP's & PC's that apply to one person is going to necessarily apply to you. Most of these coupons & codes may only apply to a certain country,or part of a country, start date and/or end date & length of rental ( and several other factors not mentioned). IF you TRULY want to make the most of the AMAZING offers you can find on Hertz (while I have researched other major car rental agencies & used to be an avid Enterprise customer, I have found Hertz to be the best all around) than take the time & put in the effort to do so. You will be surprised with what great deals & offers you can find.
Lastly...alot of these sites/threads are started, contributed to and maintained by people who have done just that. For that, I would like to give a BIG shoutout to all of you!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! Without all of the time, effort & knowledge you have contributed to these sites, alot of us would not benefit from the great discounts that help us get a better deal than we ever could otherwise!
While I have learned alot & shared some of that knowledge, I have never been one to ask questions. While I have a good repore with the neighbourhood Hertz rental agency, I don't want to wait until the day I go pick up my car to find this out,so if any of the more knowledgeable members can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it.
I originaly made a reservation in Winnipeg,MB,Canada @ local office(Fri.Apr.27-Fri.May 4: Standard Size: $135.42 total). A few days after I made that reservation, I found out that I was going to be the only driver & therefore, we would not be able to drive straight through to the coast. When I went back into my reservation to change it from a 7 day rental to a 10 day rental, the price jumped up more than $100. After several hours of trying/testing different codes, I got it down to $243.42. That is an increase of over $100! So I made another reservation to rent the car back out for 3 more days (Fri.May 4-Mon. May 7. While the straight 10 day rental is $243.42, the two back to back rentals (that are for a total of ten days as well), come out to a total of $138.52! I read on a thread where someone did this & they said they were told to make sure to print out both reservations so they could be processed at the same time as they were not physically going to be around to be able to bring the car back just to take it right back out again. BTW...I USED CDP#1757580(CAR & DRIVER-NO ID REQ) AND PC#132952($50 OFF WEEKLY RENTAL), WHICH TOOK ME FROM $320.07 (NO DISCOUNTS) DOWN TO $243.42 (WITH DISCOUNTS JUST MENTIONED) & IF YOU ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THE HERTZ EMPLOYEE DISCOUNT, IT WILL BRING IT DOWN MORE TO A WHOPPING $162.39!!![/B]
Has anyone ever done this or heard of this being done? While I believe in doing the grunt work myself, I can't seem to find much of anything else on this subject & would much rather be safe than sorry!
As I have been reading alot of sites where ppl comment on the level of customer service (or lackthereof) with Hertz and some customers claimed they had found the magic # to call if you want/need help to get a better deal and/or rate on your rental, I decided I had nothing to lose at this point.
I originally rented a car for one week (from Fri.Apr 27-Fri.May 4) but later realized that I would need it for an extra 3 days (the weekend of Fri. May 4-Mon.May 7). When I booked a seperate reservation for those 3 days, I got a weekend rate of $15/day but when I added the 3 weekend days onto my 7 day reservation, the charge became $40/day, as it no longer saw it as a 'weekend rate' but just considered it as '3 extra days'.
So when I spoke to a very nice lady in Customer Service, I told her that I was being charged $105 MORE when I add a weekend onto my 7 day rental than if I just booked that weekend as a seperate reservation (to be picked up as soon as I drop the car off at the end of my 7 day rental). She verified the info & than told me to keep the 10 day reservation (as she couldn't 'blend' the separately reserved 7 day & 3 day reservations) & told me to call and/or email her when I get back from my trip and she will credit back my card the $105!
So, with my car & driver CDP(1757580) & my PC(132952-i think this was a 'typo' as it originally showed as a $50 credit towards a weekly rental but now shows as a Promo Code for a monthly rental) AND the $105 credit I will be getting...that takes the original rental charges for a Standard Size Car for 10 days from $320 down to $138!
As helpful as good coupons & codes can be, I learned a LONG time ago...great customer service is PRICELESS!!! If you ever need help this is the dpt & # to call: Executive Customer Service 1-201-307-2316.
PS...I will update this post once I get back & put in my request for the credit. If this goes 1/2 as smooth as she was polite, helpful, professional & accommodating...than I will be a very happy & loyal Hertz customer for life.

I think your two posts are great! Thank you for showing and telling how it does take lots of time and efforts to find good rates! Thank you for not just saying...find me a car! Your showing also by calling what CSR's are willing to do is very helpful. It seems with every rental company there are pro's and con's. We had great service with Hertz last summer---I had different makes of cars I didn't like on the same rental (nothing wrong with car but Impala gas is 'stiff" to me, then they gave me another car I didn't like...finally a Camry I was pleased with. Never once did I get a nasty look, comment or problem.
I rented an 'economy' car (4 door versa-VERY roomy inside) this weekend from fri.apr 20 a.m. - mon apr 23 a.m. and used CDP #1757580(car & driver-ANYONE can use) & PC #168210 (save $5/day 4 wknd up to $35 for weekly rental) & when I picked up the car, I got an EXTRA 5% discount (my guess is it has to do with my hertz membership)....so my total for the weekend came out to $28.10!!! Now THAT'S a DEAL!
