Okay just did the offer and wanted to update the thread with the details. First part is a Summary if you do not care to read the whole rant below: -You have to have been invited to take advantage of this specific offer. - This offer differs from others because you CAN purchase the lowest sale fare PRICE for the B1G1. -Please note that you still do have to pay TAXES on the FREE ticket. - Both passengers HAVE to fly on the same itinerary (no Exceptions). -After applying for the card it takes about 2-3 weeks to either get a card or get a denial in the mail and only then can you get the B1G1 offer. -After receiving the card check the prices directly on BA.com for the lowest sale price. If you call the number that is included with the card make sure that you are getting quoted the lowest sale price you see on BA.com. If the rep quotes you anything higher simply hang up and call BA.com directly (1800-Airways) and book the ticket through them. -You can only take advantage of this offer Once on the card after which you can still book B1G1 offers but you have to book them on specific Fare which are almost always Higher (in my case it was $1900Fare&Tax per Ticket). Now the specifics of my rant: Please note that the biggest thing is that you have to apply and then wait for the card to be mailed to you so that you can purchase the tickets with the credit card. The whole process from the day that I applied to the day I received my card in hand took about 14 days. Visa/British airways state that it may take up to 6 weeks. I tried to get VISA to give me the number over the phone but would not do that and that seemed silly because many places give you instant approvals and temporary credit card information to use for offers like this. The reason I wanted to get the card number is because ticket prices creep up every week and I did not want to wait on it. Now the big issue I had with this offer: Under this specific offer you can buy your ticket on the Lowest Sale fare and still get the other ticket Free for the same fare but you do have to pay Taxes on 2nd ticket which were $370 in my case because I am flying on an international flight and might be lower locally or on shorter flights. So I had called up BA (NOT VISA) prior to applying for this offer and was told the same but that you have to call in to book your tickets and the price for my ticket was about $1240 including taxes and $370 for the second ticket. When I got the card there was a number included to call and make the reservations to take advantage of the offer but the rep on the phone tells me that my total will be $1540Fare + $400Taxes + $400Taxes for the second ticket. I told him that under the new offer I am eligible for the lowest fare which is $1225Fare&Tax price on BA’s website. The rep had NOTHING to say about it and simply repeated that the fare he quoted above is the best he can do and that he is not able to see any other prices and that the prices vary from hour to hour and day to day (WTF). I was soo FREAKING pissed off about this bullcrap that I said F U and hung up because with the prices I got above there was no point of me booking anything with the offer and in fact it would be more expensive to do so. After I was a bit calm and collective I called BA directly and GUESS what the BA REP was able to SEE the $1225Fare&Tax price and offered it to me as well without any hassle. So moral of the story is that avoid calling the number included with the offer since it seems like the reps on that number are working on some sort of commission and will most likely not give you a better price.
