I know you have posted a lot since you signed up few months ago. However, please do watch for your language and attitude on the board. There is no reason to jump on anyone and attack them. Thanks.

I'll tell you what,When you actually offer as much help and deals and yes freebies I give out, then and only then, will you opinon matter to me or the 5 or 6 other members who are on TD helping people everyday, not just occasionally.Until then please keep your comments to yourself. If you want to spoonfeed everyone that is your choice, not everyone elses.Have a Wonderful Day.

Since we have a new thread, I will give the same warning that I did in the previous thread:

The rental car company contract has a clause that the contract is invalid if you are using a contract code you are not entitled to use. So if you rent a car and have an accident, the car rental company, credit card, and auto insurance companies can all deny the claim on the basis that you were using an unauthorized code.

For my personal rentals, it's better to be safe than sorry so I only use codes I am entitled to. The choice is up to you but don't complain you haven't been warned

YMMV - some rental car companies may not check.

Good point, not to metion the Legal problems with using State or Government Codes.Yes they will Fine you and/or Prosecute you.

Thats the problem Ialways had with using IBM's code with Hertz. They had great rates, BUT all the insurances were included. If I would have been able to take it out the insurances myslef I would have felt safer.

The question is, if you use a code just for a discount, and take out the insurances yourself, and tehn get into an accident, do they void the insurances as well?

That's a good question, and I really hope anyone who has had experience in this area will reply.

It all depends how the contract between IBM and the rental company is worded. If it is only for employee use, Hertz would have no responsibility for providing the LDW coverage. If the discount number is granted for an association and usage is granted for any type of affiliation, you would be in a better position. Bottom line is drive carefully and hope for the best. No guarantees.

I don't understand why we need a new thread on this topic, rather than amend the old one.

It looks like we are losing data in the process.

Sometimes it is best to leave well enough alone.

This may be one of those times.

While I agree with you in theory, the other one was getting a bit unwieldy. The newbies couldn't be bothered with reading the most recent page or two, much less well over 100. Hopefully the other thread will remain around for awhile for reference.

(Attn newbies-- READ a little BEFORE asking questions. Do your homework and ask an educated question-- you will get you much better and kindlier responses.)

lol.. np. That's good info to know but FWIW, I don't think the additional discount is worth that much. I tried using these codes when I was searching for my LV rental for December and ended up getting rates that were more expensive than anywhere else. That additional number might work better in other areas? Possibly Florida since Westjet has several flights down that route?

The interesting thing about codes is that some will work great for one area but not at all for another. That's why you can't assume anything. Sometimes you will actually do better with no code at all. It's a lot of trial and error.

Earlier, I mentioned SW's website. I am working on a trip to LA in 2 weeks and got a quote of $100 less (188) thru Budget than I can get thru Budget itself. That's a great deal- BUT I am reluctant to pull the trigger as I have to give my cc in advance- although I can cancel up to a day before.

Anyone got any deals- LAX 12/19-29 on any size car? National is running roughly the same as Budget, 280-300 midsize with various codes, the best so far being with Entertainment code and free day coupon. I'd love to come close to the SW rate without making the commitment...tia!

I am still playing around with codes searching for the best deal. I just came across this code when checking Alamo. The website said that the Alamo location was sold out and referred me to National with this contract ID: 5160011. It didn't end up getting me better rates but it might work for someone else!

I was able to get through hertz using the car and driver CDP: 1757580 a rate of $192. That is with out any coupons, and Hertz usually has a coupons available for $20 - $30 on a weekly rental.

I am pretty sure she told me it does (with a deductible), but I will ask her and get back to everyone

OK, I checked, it does not provide LDW, it used to, but they were able to get better rates without it being included.

That is just about the best CDP out there right now. Acrossenger has a thread about updated coupons. Maybe I will post them here as well.

Thanks guys. I made a res for the economy but may go with the Green Buick for 265$ special with the 30$ ent coupon. Was kinda hoping for a deal on a midsize but they are running the same as National. I just love the convenience of the EA.

This will give us a change to try out Acrossenger's free #1 Club.

Alright I've flipped through most of the codes for the various agencies and the best price I can get for SNA airport on 12/25-12/31 for a full size car is $217.00 all fees included with National. Is this a good deal...anyone find anything for lower for those dates at SNA. Thanks
