REQUEST
Date: 12/24-12/28
Location: MIA
Car type: any

The prices I see are ridiculous. I can only find $378.99 on a premium from Dollar or Thrity on Expedia. Other codes I tried on Avis or other company have given me even worse rates except two government rates that gave me around $100 and $200. But I am not sure it will be safe to use them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You need to do the following:
show codes/coupons used
decide if you MUST have a premium car
give times so we know if it's 4 or 5 days
check biddingfortravel to see how much PL is going for (this is probably your best bet)

AND FYI,
XMAS+FL=$$$$$

Any help with finding better deals is appreciated. Thank you.

Best bets in FL for vans are often thru Dollar/Thrifty. Check out their specials tabs for deals, and try SW code. (sw2358, google to be sure)

AND try the Avis Florida codes (google or do a search here) which were giving some excellent deals.

ALSO keep an eye on Last Minute Specials thru Alamo and National. See the $40 coupon I posted a coupla days ago.

1) Please give 3 quotes with codes. Those are the rules of this thread and may help someone else.
2) Be very wary using USAA unless you are a member.
3) Call all possible companies and make sure you are covered for driving in Canada.
4) Look at weekend deals/codes. EWEB is a good one for National. Plus check Last Minute Specials.

Using budget I found this BCD code was cheaper then any other code used here A529900 It's an Air Canada code (It offered to book me a car after my flight with that code).

1) What size car are those quotes for?
2) Hundreds of codes and coupons have been posted here for your use. Have you not tried ANY of them? Please do so and then come back and let us know how you made out. The three quotes rule kinda means use the info we've all been providing here.

Sorry about that. I will doublecheck the Canada thing once I find a good rate -- ie, Hertz has no issues with driving in Canada.

National - 5130069 (Verizon) - $198
Hertz - 77694 (USAA) - $170
Alamo - 430710 (WalMart) - $205
Hertz - Car & Driver code - $171 (this is my backup reservation in case USAA doesn't work -- USAA gives me free add'l drivers)

Thank you rangerxenos. The code didn't work though. These (thanksgiving) could be blackout dates.

Thank you riaesq. I got an awesome deal on Avis through Orbitz. I used the code K199060. Got a weekly minvan rental for $361.74. Super deal. Thanks again riaesq!

You are very welcome. Thanks for coming back and posting.
But- WHY would you go thru Orbitz?
Usually better to go directly thru Avis unless Orbitz is offering you some deal. BTW there is probably a $30 or so coupon floating around you can combine with that.

I checked Avis direct and got the same rate. So I got a little greedy and used the FW Orbitz CashBack. But just realized that Avis has a FW CashBack too.
I couldn't figure out how I could use another coupon. Is this something that can be presented at the rental counter?

You used a corporate code. There is another box for coupon codes. May not be there on the Orbitz site tho....

Rental car rates have really gone up! Last year I rented a full-size (they gave me a new Cadillac CTS) through Enterprise for $87 total for 4 days over Thanksgiving. Mileage was capped at 3000. This year everything I am finding (standard & full-size) is at at least $200 and capped at 700 or 1000 miles, while I need at least 1200 miles. I'm tempted to call the same Enterprise location directly and see what kind of deal they could give me. This post is not a request, just an observation for people wondering if rates have truly gone up.

This would be far more helpful/useful if you post the codes/coupons used.
Sounds like it's pretty cheap so far though.

Sorry - I've updated my original post. Also forgot to give the WalMart-reduced price for Alamo so updated that as well. Couldn't find codes/coupons for Payless and Advantage - those were the stated prices (Payless fee was reduced by a couple bucks due to my Payless Perks membership). I see that the prices are cheap as is but am wondering if there's anything cheaper out there, thanks!!!

I just got an awesome deal thro' Priceline.

Minivan @ FLL from 11/26 to 12/2 for $266.XX. Doesn't get better than this, does it?

Thanks again riaesq for all the suggestions.
