Hi there! Boy, I THOUGHT I loved playing with rental car codes until I just found this thread!! Props to you guys - and respect for the TIME it takes to compile all this info!!
So - I always rent National and play around with their codes to see which gives me the best rate, and then book National. I have a long trip coming up and from what I've found so far, rates don't look good. Hopefully someone can help me search? (Please) I've read the FAQ and am ready to post my finding so far.
Thanks all!!!
1. Location = SFO , san francisco airport 2. Car type = Flex on car type, need at least an intermediate. 3. Dates = 12/23/11 730pm - 1/7/12 730pm 4. I am a costco member and (shame) haven't taken advantage of their travel deals thus far. didn't learn of their rental car rates until tonight. Yes, I am humbled and realize I am a complete rookie!!
my results:
enterprise = 36A7933 price = intermed. = 209/week 590.27 total
Avis = K817165 MUAA039 price = intermed.= 587 total
budget = Y126500 MUWZ023 price = intermed. = 338.80 total (i'n new to to Budget and believe this rate is lower because it calls for advanced purchase)
national - CONTRACT ID 5063773 + IATA # For PRT Travel – 52431993 midsize = total = 651.52
I am a FWF regular, but rarely venture into these waters.
Thanks to the posters on this thread for doing the research for me. I rented a car for a winter trip and the AMEX Blue and nintendo group codes got me a serious sweet new ride for approx $22 a day with GPS and XM at Hertz.
The GPS was so good, I never consulted a map anywhere. I now realize my cell phone GPS is a joke.

I have a question on the Budget coupon code- the MUWZ023 - what exactly is the coupon value? When I put in the BCD code with or without the coupon code- I get the same price.. but when i use the code- it says coupon will apply but doesnttake off anything additional.. how is this supposed to work?
Request! - I hope I am in the correct forum to ask for help, please correct me if need be. Thanks in advance for any help!
1. Phoenix Airport/Sky Harbor International - pick up and drop off the same 2. Intermediate SUV/Ford Escape 3. 3/10-3/17 (12noon - 12noon), exactly 1 week. 4. Unlimited Mileage a must. 5. 1 driver only, and yes, over 25
What I have found so far (includes all taxes/fees):
1). Costcotravel.com (best deal so far). Budget for $456 2). Avis website using Alaska Air code K197800 $620 or more 3). Budget website using codes U072200 (Alaska Air) $510.92 and code W852800 (costco) is $496.05
Can anyone help me beat the costco travel website at $456?
Been using this forum for a while and have had great luck with the codes to get rentals in Florida and other parts of the U.S. in the $100-$140 range including tax for a weekly rental (full size to SUV). Now when I'm looking at rates for a weekly rental in Tampa anytime in Feb, Mar, or Apr, the rates are $350 for a standard size car to $500 for an SUV even with trying different companies and various codes on this site. Have rates gone up that much in the last 6 months?? Or am I booking too far in advance?
At SJU in San Juan, Puerto Rico, March 29th at 2PM and returning April 8th at 11AM, I'm looking for a decent sized car, preferably whatever is their special on a guzzler, as I'm a big guy and have lots of family. Sometimes you can luck out with some new vehicle they are offering as a special and sometimes just getting the cheapest thing with the executive emerald card and asking about what the mgr would like to see moved off the lot works well.
So, here are three practice rounds through carrentalsavers.com using the best they offer to get a full-sized car from three agencies...
Alamo...Intermediate with two free upgrades option to full-sized $297.17 Enterprise...Intermediate to full-sized with Emerald Club option $376.04 National...Compact upgraded to full-sized executive elite option $297.17
And, here's what Charlie Car Rental in San Juan offers.... full-sized car $ 366.04
And, now for the coupons, contracts and whatever I can find...
REVISION>>>>>>just tried National again with all of the above except a new coupon ND8578ADT and the price dropped to $246.19 or a $13 savings over my previous contract.
Alamo... Insider Club Double Upgrade option to full-sized AU2852SDA Costco 7014627 $284.24
Enterprise PlusClub Car & Driver XVC1092 $533.88
National Emerald Club Executive Double upgrade option from Midsize IATA# 52431993 $35 off ND8578ADT $259.93 (which I booked for now)
So, any advice on how to get a better deal in sunny San Juan?

There is some good information for you in your original post about this.
There is no problem holding a couple reservations, but in all fairness to the company AND more importantly other renters you need to cancel them before the rental time passes. Keep checking rates as they might go down, CANCEL and rebook. There really is no reason to hold several reservations.
I am traveling to Kauai HI (Lihue Airport) from Feb 22 (4 pm) - Feb 28 (noon).
Looking for either an Intermediate or Standard SUV. I was hoping to get the intermediate size SUV and upgrade but none of the coupons apply at this location. I even tried using my Hilton Honors points to upgrade and they would not accept that either (Avis/Budget).
All prices before taxes and fees
Avis – Corporate AWD Q330784 No coupons would work intermediate SUV $342 standard SUV $414 Tried several other codes but all were much higher
Hertz Corporate CDP 1815193 intermediate SUV $809 standard SUV $858 Similar to CDP# 1861176 in list of codes on first page
Budget Pay now BCD U133214 Coupon MUWZ023 – This is the only coupon that the system would not reject for this location. No price difference without it though so assume the $25 discount is at the counter. intermediate SUV $330 standard SUV $402
Budget BCD X433000 intermediate SUV $514 standard SUV $524
Budget BCD 2939000 Coupon MUWZ023 intermediate SUV $542 standard SUV $414 – yes cheaper for the larger size vehicle. ??
The one Budget rate is the cheapest but it is a pay now rate and likely not refundable. All the other Budget codes I tried were much higher so may be worth the savings since it is unlikely we will be canceling our trip. If something better comes out though I am stuck with it should I go that way.
The Avis rate is not much higher but might be the better option since I can just reserve it for now and monitor. Seems like deals and discounts for Kauai are less common.
Can you improve on any of these? Or like I posted above, I was hoping to get the standard-sized SUV for the intermediate price.
Yes this has been educational. Thanks
Update-- I found Avis coupons at Costco Travel that were accepted for rental in Kauai. UUGA017 gives a free upgrade gut only to premium class so no good for SUV. Other coupon gives 25% off and $30 off weekly rate (MUGA049) but only applies to time and mileage charges. Not sure what that means completely.
On my Puerto Rico trip (see below), which I just updated per my weekly price check, the codes beat the others, including "name your own price" at Priceline. I'll probably be able to beat that Las Vegas contract I now have by using codes in a week or two. We'll see.
Haven't heard the greatest on Fox & if I remember right you have to take a bus to the Rental Center & then ANOTHER bus to the Fox facility in Las Vegas.
Vegas seems to be fixated on high prices right now. I can't get below $217.51 for a 5 day rental (of course at March Madness time).

Earlier I posted about my SJU trip.
A friend made two suggestions...lose the IATA# and insert the nf2995jdk from Entertainment. Well, the Entertainment coupon does not beat my new coupon ND8578ADT and these are either/or.
So, I'm still at $246.19 with National having lost the IATA# for the sake of prudence.
More of a reference info request. I am also trying to book Las Vegas. I have a rate of $217.51 with Nat'l (preferred provider), however I did do some checking at Alamo. If I return 1 day early & then re-rent for a single day I can get a price of around $170-$180. (If I try to book it in one it goes up to $238 or so because the weekend promo runs out - the weekend promo is about $130 & the single day is around $40ish). (3/16-3/21)
My curiousity & my request here has me wondering if I have two individual reservations can they link them when I arrive so I can keep the same car & don't have to take it back to the airport facility & check out a different one for a single day? It definitely seems to be worth it to save $40 to make the extra trip, but hate wasting 2 hours going, waiting in line again, etc.
So the linking is really the only question I have right now. (Sigh - I can do about $150 all in with Costco but not a member & none anywhere near me. Bummer).
I believe that they make you return the car and get another, so "linking" is inconvenient. Did you try carrentalsavers.com and their "car rental destinations" window set to "Las Vegas?" This might help.
Costco seems to be the deal of the day but only Sam's near me. Trying to find out if any of my relatives have it & can add me as a member! When I rent only 2 or 3 times a year max it doesn't really pay to get a membership myself (if I could find a place to sign up). I think you will be a lot happier with Budget - even if just for the convenience of not having to go to another location yet.
I didn't figure they would make it as easy as the hotels do to link!
Sorry forgot to quote, See my infomation above this reply. oneirishgirl said: Request! - I hope I am in the correct forum to ask for help, please correct me if need be. Thanks in advance for any help!

Use Alamo coupon AU2852SDA in addition to the Costco CORP ID 7014627. Choose the compact car (listed at $223.55) and get a free double upgrade to a Standard car for a grand total price of $262.55.
I need to rent a car in Ft. Lauderdale from 2/15 to 2/27. Compact is fine and I prefer Budget or Enterprise, as they have pick up sights which are not at the airport, making the rates much better for a non-airport pick up and drop off. I did very well with rates this time last year but don't think I am doing very well this year. So far, I have found: Enterprise (p/up location code 41G3): 4CA6699: $329.09 XVC1093: $541.68 XVC1092: $542.36 45WA000: $353.38
Budget: (location code EV3) W852849: $339.25 U305500: $344.51 X793206: $350.98 W852800: $269.65 (with a "pay now" option of 242.69)
So far, the Budget rate of $242.69 is the best rate I have found. With taxes and fees, the total is $303.41. I know it's Spring Break time so rates will be higher but it just seems high to me compared to what I have gotten in the past. I really just need the car for local errands while there, nothing long distance. Thank you so much for any help. I love this site!
I too have been playing for a while with codes on dozens of websites to try and get a good deal on a rental in MIA in July. I thought I could try to ask you guys who have a deeper knowledge at this "game".
My request;
1. MIA - Miami International Airport - pick up and drop off the same 2. Full Size 3. 7/10-8/5 (6:30pm - 5pm), 26 days 4. Unlimited Mileage 5. 1 driver only, over 25 (option of an additional driver over 25 (spouse) could be useful but not necessary) 6. I am a foreign national (from France), and will be in possession of a return plane ticket... which could be relevant for the rate 7. Member of Frequent Flyer programms AAdvantage and IberiaPlus and also a Hertz #1 Gold member
Best deals so far (including all taxes and fees and all converted into USD for clarity):
Alamo on alamo.fr: 987 USD w/ 3 additional drivers - pay on arrival
Thrifty on thrifty.fr: 940 USD prepay
Hertz on hertz.co.uk: 860 USD prepay using AAdvantage CDP: 217692 (gave 10% discount)
As I'm not a US resident all these quotes include LDW and SLI.
I do not want to use a code I'm not allowed to use, but I've searched the UK site for hertz as there is NO mention in the T&C that you must be a resident of the UK to book ... it's just that the country in the billing address is UK .. and I can link the booking to my Gold account which states France as my residency !
What are my options from there, should I wait until closer to the date for rates to go down ? Should I try to bid on Priceline ?
Hi all, I have a reservation with Enterprise using the car and driver discount code that includes LDW. I wil be going from Maine to DC. For my area, the car and driver code gives this stipulation:
"MILEAGE IS UNLIMITED WITHIN THE RENTING STATE AND BORDERING STATE. IF TRAVELING OUTSIDE OF THESE STATES, MILEAGE WILL BE AT 200 FREE MILES PER DAY AND $.25 EACH ADDITIONAL MILE."
My question is (and I am placing tin foil hat on here)..how does Enterprise know when the car is going out of my state and neighboring state? GPS in the car and they will know, and begin charging? Do folks usually not worry about little stipulations like that?
can someone confirm that using the entertainment book codes at national don't require any proof at pickup? i know ymmv just curious - never used these codes before but they look great.

thank youAs you indicated YMMV.
As indicated repeatedly in the thread, id is requested when you least expect it.
If you're worried, buy some insurance. Go to Entertainment Book For Cheapand pay $14 to $18 and actually qualify for the code. Is the deal worth the $14 to $18? That's what you need to decide.

Yea heh - I just bought an entertainment book card on eBay for $1.50 HAHAHAHAHAHA
So I will use the "electronic coupons" and will be safe. Woo.

For those in the same trip booking region as me - LV in March Madness time frame, the rates have come down slightly. With the e-mailed $35 off a weekly rate, and using Carlson Travel code, I am now down to about $166 for a weekend trip. Still not the $110 of other trips, but also not the worst I have encountered either. So keep checking those rates as they have dropped around $40 before taxes.
