skmerrow said:   Request for pricing April 27 thru May 4. Compact or greater

Budget (Y126501) + MUGZ165 = 172.69
Budget (D454300) + (not sure if budget code works with Wendis Promo) so assuming total will be 166.57

Hertz (77694) No coupon code for usaa that I found works = 157.67 but when I try CC 168210 I get a price of 164.55. I chatted with hertz online and they tell me I can not use a coupon with that rate but it does not tell me that when i reserve. I also assume if it does not work that the rate should be the same but instead it is higher. Does anyone know if Hertz is like Budget in which they credit the true amount including coupon once the car is returned?

I realize that according to this the budget is the best price but was wondering if anybody knew of any coupons to make Hertz lower?
These rates are for a compact as there is only 2 of us but if there is a promo on a larger car that is fine.

And this is where?

I've done some research, but until now it looks like Avis is cheapest in my class (?!)

1. MCO (Orlando Airport)
2. Luxury or Premium (I'm not sure if it pays to book a full size and then pay for an upgrade at the counter?)
3. June 26th 10.00 PM until July 17th 1.00 PM
4.
Avis:
AWD: D302003
Rate Type: Lowest
Rate Code: D2
Coupon: MUGA015
Wizard: N/A
Residence: Denmark
$928

Hertz:
CDP: 1911795

$1004

Nationalcar:
Contract: XVC1092

$1484 (including all fees etc)

Should I really end up with renting with Avis or am I missing something here?
Should I book a smaller car and then ask for an upgrade at the counter?

Thank you very much in advance.

USAA coupon codes that work with the USAA CDP can be found on the USAA site under Hertz.

At least at DCA (and I assume everywhere) National & Alamo pool their cars- ie you can choose from either with a reservation from either. Maybe Enterprise too.

So it's best to go National with Emerald Aisle and if nothing's to your liking on the aisle bargain for what you see you do like on National, Alamo, or Enterprise rows. They usually give it up.

On 3/20/2012 I cancelled the above reservation and booked a Mercury Grand Marquis from Budget for $198.93 by using my Costco membership and MUZ029, which Costco entered for me.

Last night, May 1, 2012, I cancelled the above reservation and booked a Toyota Sienna mini-van from Budget for $167.26 by using my Costco membership and W852863/MUZ023, which Costco

If someone knows a better deal for a big car in Vegas on my dates, please tell me. Anyway, I think it is interesting how the prices dropped...Last night they wre quoting that Chev Impala I ordered first back in January for $155 with taxes, etc.

Hi there,

I made a reservation at ALAMO LAX, Los Angeles
Fullsize Car for about $515 for 28days, all fees and taxes included.
EXCEPT the underage fee. They would charge me an additional 700 dollars + tax on that.

I am 24 years old, does anybody know, if and how I can make Alamo LAX waive the underage fee on my reservation?

Also, I am going to rent for 4 months, do you know, if I can simply take my ar after 28 days, and extend my reservation for another 28 days at the same rate?

Thank you very much!

Has anyone had personal experience using a contract ID on National that covers LDW, but then you get into an accident?

I didn't even have an accident, but National claims I am responsible for damage. I think someone may have hit the car when I was parked. I used the Ohio St contract ID for a lower price, and has LDW. Of course I told National I am not affiliated with them, so they said the LDW won't apply. My issue is, I want the combination of my regular auto insurance and my credit card insurance (offered through the mastercard I used to pay to it) to pay it all. I'm just scared that both adjusters (I have a claim into both, the CC insurance says they will be secondary) will see the LDW and deny, even when I explain that I never had the LDW. I don't want to get stuck with several thousand in a bill for an accident that I didn't cause, just because I used the Ohio St contract ID.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks!

P.S. I've done my searches in this thread, but still haven't seen someone say whether or not they had an issue with THEIR OWN auto insurance and/or insurance with their credit card once those adjusters see that LDW was not declined because you used a contract ID (That you weren't supposed to) that had LDW included.

No insight on this but can say THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS FOLKS WHEN YOU USE A CODE YOU ARE NOT AFFILIATED WITH (THAT INCLUDES INSURANCE) HAVE AN ACCIDENT AND ARE ASKED FOR PROOF OF ID AND CAN'T PROVIDE IT! BEWARE. I am sure OP can say it wasn't worth it as I am sure out of pocket expenses will be much more than what you saved.

This is also the time to say check over that car before you leave the lot and note every ding, scratch and problem with the car. Also check when you return (cell phones have cameras and can video too) and note what the car looks like when you leave it with them!

Sorry OP good luck and keep posted. Hope it works out for you.

pappy97,

The optional Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) offered by car rental companies is not insurance. It’s an option that relieves the renter of most, if not all, of the financial responsibility if the vehicle is damaged or stolen while under rental contract. Sans an LDW, as with millions of renters everyday, the liabilioty falls directly with the renter, you, for which you have a CC and a regular auto policy to fend off any repair/damage/suit costs.

If your policy is up to date, sleep well...

Picking up on 8/3/12 and dropping off on 8/11/12 at San Fran airport.

I did this same trip about a year ago and found a standard SUV for $200 (just looked up the reservation in my email inbox) but I have no idea what code I used. Lowest I've been able to find for a standard SUV now is around $550 using the Delta code (V183800).

It doesn't have to be an SUV, I was just using that as a basis for comparison as all the rates are coming out 2x-3x higher than they were with whatever code I used last time that I can no longer locate.

When posting a request, be sure to give all the pertinent info: type of car you would prefer (and what you might settle for); dates and p/u times (along with how flexible you may be on this, and remember there isn't much of a grace period nowadays and that extra hour may cost a LOT) and WHERE you will be picking up and dropping off.

Also, you MUST post a bare minimum of 3 codes and companies from the Matrix thread you have already tried (preferably something you can qualify for) and what the results were for each, including fees and taxes.

Glance at the first page of the thread and thoroughly review the most recent 5-6 pages to see what's working well lately and what topics are under discussion This way, we don't re-create your work; your post may help someone else; and perhaps you will have learned something valuable doing your homework. dp1,

"New! Save $30 on your next weekly rental by using Alamo coupon code AD8221SDF. Requires Saturday night keep, expires 12/31/12."

CORPID: 7015309 is COSTCO.

Yah,mamzer, I found that by using google.

I use COSTCO coupons and ID all the time and no one has ever asked me about it. HOWEVER, I always pay with my AMEX by COSTCO CC, so that might explain it. Or, they may have my membership in their computer.

Go join COSTCO if you're worried. They guarantee that you'll get more in annual rebate credit than you'll pay for the membership.

You might also go to COSTCO Travel and plug in your airport, dates and times to see if they are offering something better. You don't need a memebership to get a quote, but you will to make the contract. Their deals on my last two rentals MORE than paid the annual COSTCO fee (IE I got a Sienna for five and a half days for $167 including all taxes and fees in LV!!!), let alone the rebates at the end of the year.

Moderator Comment: This new list for requests is a bit more tailored toward cars.

Before posting your request, make sure to check out the codes in this thread, especially the original post. Then, look over the last 5 or 6 pages for code updates. If you have done that and tried at least 3 codes and/or companies, you’re ready to post your request.

1) Title should start with the word "REQUEST" (e.g. "REQUEST – Car Rental at LAX")
2) Dates you plan to travel. Being as specific as possible is a must. If times can be a little flexible, please indicate that.
3) Departure and Destination.
4) What you have found so far in your own research. Please make sure to have tried at least 3 different codes and/or companies. Please supply the rates you received with each code and/or company (This prevents duplication of research and is a great way to inform the community of what is out there!) — May. 23, 2012 @ 9:34am

Please help us help you!

We will not assist until you follow forum guidelines.
You MUST try a minimum OF THREE CODES FOUND IN THIS MATRIX.

List size of car, code/coupon used and total including all taxes and fees.

Until you do this there will probably be nobody willing to help. We are not travel agents, but people just like you looking for deals. Look at previous 3-4 pages, see HOW TO POST and what codes working.

Once you do this we will help. If you are unable or unwilling than contact a travel agent who can assist.

The effort you make keeps others from duplicating your searching. Please don't just say I tried a bunch of codes either---specific codes, car company, and rates.

Book lowest and keep watching the rates, you can book and cancel old reservation. It might go down---but it might go up so when you see a low rate book (no cost to cancel).
