Isles1, normally they don't let you get the bonus when it's on a previously-booked room. You'll probably have to cancel those reservations and make them again, now that you've signed up for the bonus.
Also, keep your confirmation emails and such because the last time I qualified for a Hilton promotion, they never gave me the bonus and I had to go back and send them proof I had qualified for it.

Does not say anything about having to book after registering for the offer, rather it states register for the offer prior to check-in.
Okay, that's fine. In the past, some points offers I had signed up for with Hilton were only valid for new bookings and would not be applied to bookings made prior to sign-up. It's good to double-check.
Green, although I doubt I will end up staying at a Hilton before the promotion ends. I even have an HHonors AMEX that I use a good amount, but I still don't have enough incentive to book nights at Hiltons. Other than some of the low end Hampton Inns and the high end Conrad brand, Hilton has let a lot of their hotels fall by the wayside in recent years in terms of guest quality. They almost specialize in being large convention hotels rather than high quality destinations (a la Intercontinental, Fairmont, Kimpton, etc.).
Most Hampton Inns are garbage. My preference is Homewood Suites regardless of the length of my stay. I love these quarterly bonuses since I already have 40 nights this year.

Sadly, I already have the original H/H AMEX. This new H/H SURPASS AMEX would NOT qualify me to renew as GOLD VIP due the fine prints below:

Only one first purchase bonus per Card account. Only firsttime Hilton HHonors Cardmembers will earn up to 40,000 Hilton HHonors bonus points. I may have to call them to find out if you MUST charge at least $20,000 per yr. to re-qualify as GOLD VIP. - I last qualify for GOLD VIP when I stayed at 6 properties within a short time period when we were travelling in NE-U.S. two years ago.
My Marriott GOLD will expire next year, hence I need to concentrate my hotel stay with either Hilton or Marriott. Maintaing any of these GOLD accounts only makes sense if you travel quite a bit and can enjoy some of the Upgrades.

It's an OK deal regardless of level of travel (as long as it's not zero) - for $75 you get 30k-40k points (depending on what your signup bonus was if your already have HH card)

How do you know when Gold expires? I can't for the life of me find it anywhere.On your member card. If you do not have one, request one via Member Services on the HHonors website.

to be honest with you guys...gold doesnt carry as much weight. i used to work front desk and we would only care for the diamonds, platinums or vips depending on the brand.......people push their gold status as if they are hot doo doo..i would too, dont get me wrong, but if the hotel only has 5 suites, i'm sure there are more than 5 diamond/platinum members that are staying there that night.....so i'm almost positive you will be getting a standard room, unless you slip them money.
