Thanks for posting - but it's not worth all of the nitpicky rules that Hhonors pads their program with. Miles expire a year without a stay, must do reservation through them to accrue points, can't get a room upgrade at gold, takes forever to get gold, blah blah blah.

Better time spent getting starwood points that don't expire and give you a round trip ticket after 20k points. Right now after two stays you get one free.

I'm confused, do they remove the miles after they're transferred to an airline account after one year of hilton inactivity? Or do they only remove points from the hilton Points account after one year of inactivity? Thanks a lot!

On what do you base the negative Hampton comments? I average over 5 nights of business hotel stays per month, mostly in California and Arizona, and find Hamptons to be an excellent value. It is unusual for me to stay in the same place for more than 2 consecutive nights, and even then do not spend too much time in the hotel, and find it difficult to pay the ~20% extra for Homewood, which have fewer properties for me to choose from.

I have the Hhonors AMEX but I haven't received any bonus points for signing up--at all. At this point, this might land me in small claims court or arbitration.

There were specific purchase requirements - did you meet them? Contact Hhonors customer service?

I believe you are incorrect on these two points. The points don't expire, even without a stay. Also, I've gotten room upgrades with gold.

I've stayed in many Hamptons. The one in Hattiesburg, MS is crap and so is the one in Columbus, IN. I now stay in the embassy suites when going to Camp Atterbury, near Indianapolis, and if I ever stay 3 weeks in MS again I'll be going to the hilton Garden Inn across the street. The Hampton in Colorado Spings isn't bad but it didn't have a refrigerator. I was there 10 nights and not having a refrigerator was garbage.

Another important point: this new H/H SURPASS AMEX has an annual fee of $75.

I just went to the AMEX site to try to convert my existing H/H AMEX (no annual fee) and found that the new H/H SURPASS AMEX costs $75/yr. !!
- this may be an OK deal for those that travel a lot on business.

I got my HHonors AMEX six months ago and earned a 50K bonus (if the deal is still alive the link is in Finance) and upgraded to Surpass last month and earned an additional 30K bonus. My three stays since then (total of 5 nights all under $200) have earned me 22K in bonus points and about $5K in spending on the AMEX (including the stays) has earned me another 18K. Total 120K in bonus points good for three nights in a class 6, 5K away from four consecutive nights in a class 5, and 55K to go for six nights at a hilton resort. My weekend stays earn me close to 10K if I charge them to the card so I'm aiming for it by early next year - I have at least three more stays by next February.

If I'm short there is also the hilton Citi Visa with a 15K bonus - I just got three new Citi Visas so I'm holding that option in reserve.

BTW - The 1,000 point bonus referred to in the tread seems to replace the 500 point bonus for booking online.
