wow, thanks for the heads up. I reserved a compact for 2 days for $36 including tax. I'm still going to try for some lowball bids on Priceline, but its nice to have this as a backup.

it only applies to certain location and most are sold out already
damn, it was good for a DC booking, but then I read this..
"When picking up your rental car please be prepared to show your Costco membership card to the Alamo representative. Your Costco membership number may also be required at time of reservation."
but then I noticed you mentioned Alamo's own site is doing $20 per day which is still a great deal. Just saved $50 over my Avis booking. Thanks!

Costco membership fee is worth every penny of it. It has the best customer service and its merchandises are all top of the line. I love my Costco.

Just got back from vacation using Costco Rental Car link. Never had to show my Costco card but they won't give you any discount or upgrade unless you show them the printout of the discounts. Even though codes were in the computer, she acted surprised when I gave her the printout. AND I never got a % off. Our friend put it on his credit card as he had ins coverage otherwise I would fight it.

I only use Alamo since they put in Self Check-In kiosk. I had had enough with rep trying to upsell or add more insurance. Simple push of "No, no, no, I decline" on touch screen is priceless.
So you are above the rules? If it says Saturday night stay is required, then it is required. You were not entitled to a refund, yet you still received it, so maybe you should show some type of gratitude for that and rent from them in the future. There are two types of people on FW...people looking for a good deal without ripping someone off, and those with the selfish attitudes who will do anything and rip anyone off to save a dime. You fall into the latter.
I used this Alamo deal for a weekend trip to Seattle in February. I got a Toyota Avalon for $40 for three days. There wasn't any other company that was even close. Whenever I book a rental car, Alamo is the first place I look. Great post OP.
Check for any fine print. Mines required a Saturday stay (which I never noticed to begin with). I just got back from a trip a couple weeks ago using a $10/day (18 for full size) Alamo promo. I booked a Fri thru Sunday rental. Instead of having to wake up early Sunday morning to return the car, I decided to return the car at about 11:40PM Saturday night so we could sleep in a bit more. My $18 rate became a $56 rate. After 15minutes of "It's not Alamo's fault, I'm not required to credit you, it clearly states on your email the Saturday stay," he eventually credited me the 90 or so dollars. My fault for not reading, but I couldn't believe he'd give me attitude for returning the car 20 minutes early. I thought to myself this is the last time i'm using Alamo (sticking with Emerald Club/National I got off of FW). Adding to the bad experience, when I arrived in late Thursday night, my car wasn't even there. Online check-in service stating my car would be guaranteed blah blah blah. I had to go back to the counter wait in line for 30+ mins then directed to National to get my car. no upgrade/ no nothing.

I booked SFO over that same weekend 23rd to 27th and used a Costco Hertz 50% off a week rental and it was $200 with airport taxes and fees. Hertz and Avis with the next best coupon was at least another $130 - $150 more. No copon at Avis and Herts was tpping $600.00
It's weird that Alamo doesn't have a place in the Newark airport. Thanks anyway op.

Didn't use the deal posted but it lead me to another great deal through Costco! Thanks! Alamo Rent A Car: Save Up to 25%* Plus Additional Coupon Savings of $25 off a 3-Day Rental
Pretty sure the only Alamo in NJ is at Iselin, which is about 10 miles down Rt 1. There is a National at EWR. It does seem odd since they are usually together.

Damn. saw this too late. booked 3 day ATL memorial day weekend rental at Priceline for 110$. This would have got me that for 80$. Now I will kick myself for jumping the gun too early with Priceline.

IT IS FOR WEEKENDS...not an 11 day rental at $10 a day.
Did you even try any of the codes in the UPDATED RENTAL CAR MATRIX that is posted as a sticky at the top of this thread.
We are not your personal travel agents...you beg for assistance and show no research. The OP posted this as a deal and if you took the time to notice all the other posts were deals and thanks not lazy, no research posts.
You state you found $578...no indication on what codes/coupons used (which there are hundreds of in that thread I mentioned), no mention of car size, company, etc.
Read thru rental car matrix and try several codes, coupons and see what you can find.
If you can't call a travel agent as we are not paid travel agents...
I guided you where to find codes...
Also, rent on the hour as it is cheaper for some reason.
I booked Midsize car at Seattle Airport for memorial day weekend with Alamo for $14/day. At Denver airport, I see National and Alamo share the same lot. Since I am an Emerald Club member with National, I was wondering whether I can choose my own car with Alamo too? I don't have any idea about rental car at Seattle airport though. Kindly advice.

I think Alamo always lets you choose your car.
Edit: the other Alamo $10 per day weekend rate is good until 6/13/09.
However, at the low end, generally, your only choice is whatever color Chevy Cobalt that you would like.
At $10 a day, that is fine with me.

I used Priceline name your price and got a compact car from Denver airport for 8 days for $214 (including taxes and fees). It was $18 per day. I think this costco deal still less than what I got from Priceline but I am not a costco member.
