Trying to use this to book a Holiday Inn for 4 nights with 2 RT air tickets and it says:
This purchase does not meet the carrier or booking class restrictions of the selected coupon. For more information, please refer to the coupon rules.

8/12 - 8/16

I wonder if you could do this and somehow try to qualify for the IHG Friends and Family rate...

Try a different airline. I used it for midwest express and it worked. I looked and it also works for US airways. It did not work for northwest, continental, or Delta.

I used it on a 3 night trip to new york. Total cost for me was $157.00 total for flight and 3 nights hotel at Crowne Plaza in Elizabeth.

MangoGT said: I wonder if you could do this and somehow try to qualify for the IHG Friends and Family rate...Since you have to book through a special link from IHG for the F&F rate, which is a hotel only booking, there is absolutely no possibility. These are packages and in many cases they are discounted already plus you're getting another $200 off on top of it.

had to call suuport and the non-native english speaker put me on hold while his support team just built me a 1 time 200 dollar coupon. miami beach here I come.

I'm surprised you guys aren't crawling all over this!

I was up all night crafting weekends for the rest of the summer

Got Miami from Atlanta R/T + 3 nights for $90. Working on the parents for Las Vegas. Turns out that American is a no go from my experience as well as Continental, Delta, and Northwest. Be sure to check for Indigo, Staybridge and Candlewoods also. Airtran has been my lucky star so far. I'm not a loyal customer of theirs, but looks like thats about to change.

When I booked my trip to nyc I also did the deal twice. Once for each person. We now have two rooms, but going to see if we can trade for a suite. Seats on plane were separate but I logged into airline website and put us next to each other.

Keep in mind that you can book the number/dates of the hotel seperate from the airline travel dates. For instance, if you got the NYC deal for 3nights Fri-Mon under one name and Mon-Thur under the other (booked seperately), with the flights on the corresponding Fri and Thur. So in the end the results are similar to $300 for 2 R/T tickets + 6 nights hotel. Can't beat a deal like that.

Add United Airlines to the no go list. US Airways, Virgin America, Alaska all work with it (as well as the previously mentioned Midwest and AirTran). Add more to the go/no go lists...

None of the Crowne Plaza or Holiday Inn locations in Las Vegas are participating. I've only found one Candlewood Suites that does.

The Staybridge in Vegas is participating from what I remember.

Pick the cheapest hotel location and don't stay at the hotel. It won't cancel out your airfare since they are booked independently of each other.

You should explain that what you're posting is to use Expedia's "Only Need Hotel Part of the Trip?" feature.

Also works with Frontier and JetBlue.

You can also book an airfare to one location and have the hotel in another location (even in another state). Change the hotel destination on the page results after the initial search (near the top of the page).

I guess most these airlines are not working in Bay area california and this deal is a no go.
Someone who has luck in SFO or SJC please share where you go.

SFO-PHX $176, after coupon, for 3 nights at the Crown Plaza, flying U.S AIR.
That was just on randomly selected dates in September, there may be cheaper options.

Still hunting for the nearly free deals. Maybe Orange Co?

The lowest priced deal I've found so far is, for example as it works on other dates, 9/7-10, $45.99 for LAX-LAS. US Airways. Candlewood Suites. $239.00. Add-on Carbon Footprint for $6.99 (only because you have to pay for the taxes or it won't take the code off) which brings it to $245.99. Taxes included are $44.13. Use code. Total is $45.99.

This is what I have found:

Airlines it will work with:
AirTran
Alaska
American (Flights to the Caribbean only, so far)
Frontier
JetBlue
Midwest
Sun Country
US Airways
Virgin America

Airlines it won't work with:
American
Continental
Delta
Northwest
United

No luck from DFW to Vegas on hold right now with Expedia, have tried Cont US Airways and Amercan, Expedia customer service keeps saying it should work.

Took nearly 2 hours of hold time, but finally they were able to apply the coupon and got a flight from DFW to Vegas plus 3 nights Candlewood Suites, on American Airlines for $179.50 per person!! No, it's not the Belagio but this is the best deal I've ever landed to Vegas $359 for 3nights/4days from DFW.

Very nice.

I got it down to just the taxes and not a penny more. LAX-LAS 8/18-8-21 US Airways Candlewood Suites $237.00 (including $43.99 in taxes). Add a carbon footprint add-on for $6.99 = 243.99 less $200 code = $43.99.

Just fyi, I've been using Farecompare's compare destinations page. The site has been crapping out on me lately but the gist of it is if you enter your departing city, you can see the current deal on the cheapest destination cities to fly. It's not 110% reliable but it definitely points you in the right direction.

Fare Compare Destination City Deals

Also, I've seen the code work for out of the continuous 48 state destinations. I saw a couple of great hotel deals going to Puerto Rico (Intercontinental). I'll give an update for Cancun/Cozumel.

Edit: I think the good airlines as mentioned above are good to go now. Managed to apply the coupon for a Delta flight to New Orleans and New York. The games have begun.

The promo is good for any destination in the world that has an IHG hotel and an airline that is participating.

Or vice-versa. I have one trip already planned for New York but hadn't booked hotel. Took a poster above advice and got the Crowne Plaza Elizabeth for $82.11 total for 3 nights with the cheapest flight I could find (from BWI).

I JUST tried it. LAX-SJU on JetBlue. Depart 9/10, Return 9/14. I had to choose 9/10 for a 3-night stay since the promo requires 3 nights in the hotel and it's a redeye arriving 9/11. Try again.

EDIT: Dates needed are 8/17 - 8/20

I don't know what you are doing wrong, but the promo works PERFECTLY for your dates for JetBlue from JFK for the InterContinental.

I first tried it for 9/11-9/14 then saw you edited your post so I tried it for your dates. No problem. The code works.

Check if you're putting the right code in.

Check if you're putting the right code in.You are right. It does work if I just choose the hotel and make no changes to the default flights.

As soon as I change the flights to the 9 am on 8/17 and the 1:40 on 8/20, it no longer accepts the coupon at checkout. I appreciate the help.

Likely the fare class for one of the legs does work with the promo. You can wait one more day to see if more inventory is added tomorrow. It appears to be a 3-week advance purchase for the airfare, so tomorrow is the last day to make your decision.

Also, another observation, what I have found is that if you select two different airlines, even if both from the list of airlines that work with this promo, one for the outbound and another for the return, it will reject the coupon. It's possible that fare classes have to be the same for the promo to work for any destination.

Made a (long/drawn-out/hold on forever) call to the customer service dept. about the errors and they mentioned that it could be because of the combination of 'web fares' for the selected package and flight, but since they are within the terms and rules.....

I go this to work with an AA flight (non-stop) from DFW-SAN JUAN.

Please post if you find other combos that contradict the airline list above.

anyone know if this can be combined with ICH's buy-two-nights-get-one-free promo?

It's totally random from my observations. I made a mixture of Alaska Airlines and Frontier (BNA-LAX) and the coupon applied. At the end of the day, if its an itinerary that is deeply desired, my suggestion would be to call the customer service reps, they have to apply a bunch of magic, but rules are rules, there shouldn't be any carrier exceptions, only hotels..

I did PHX-LAS for 8/18-8/21 got it at $55 for one person at Candlewood Suites, basically that's just a little more than tax. I'm not going, but I wanted to test it out. It's cheaper than a RT plane ticket!

So, I just looked up 8/14-8/17 (fri to mon) and it's $77!!!

Okay, I just might be booking this...I want two others to go with me, so it seems that to get that price we would all have to book separately.

I think I am being stupid but I can't figure out how to do that. Once you do the initial search I have an option at the top of the page that says "Choose a different Destination" but when I change the destination it also changes my flights. Any help would be appreciated. I need to fly in to the closest airport but stay in a different place. Thanks!!

Not for New York, but I have a hotel (Candlewood Suites) for Vegas that I won't be using next week (9/25 - 9/28) if anyone is interested.
