I've done two lasik consultations...it's kind of humorous, but kind of creepy. Imagine a cross between a doctor visit and a timeshare presentation. I was waiting for them to mention breast implants. And I'm a guy
Still, if I were 5,000 miles away from an award ticket, I'd do it in a second. As far as Lasik, sadly, I'm not a good candidate due to thin corneas.

Hmm...I've already had the procedure done. I wonder if I can still sit thru the consultation for the miles.
johnnybs said: prastogi said: hmmm 90 mins!! does it really take that long? Any takers for this. Is it just a computerized test?
thanks OP!
Appears to be in store for the eye exam.
yeah, i know but i wasnt sure how invasive is the test. I guess i should have mentioned... computerized eye exam... anyhow, the previous Bosley Delta miles deal was just too easy!
I just had it done...in and out within 95 minutes. If you want the results of the exam, they charge $90 but the doctor did tell me that my prescription has not changed and that my eye pressure is holding steady (I told him my previous results). There wasn't much of a hard-sell because their office was jam-packed (FW effect?)
Will update the thread when the miles post.

Thanks, OP. Got my exam this morning. In and out in less that 90 minutes. Now just need the 5,000 miles.
Am I supposed to wear glasses/contacts to even go there?

FYI, they said the promotion doesn't start until 8/1 when I called. You might want check on this or else you are not getting your miles. I wouldn't qualify I believe because I got 15% off from Aetna.

Thanks OP. Did this yesterday. In and out in 20 minutes.

i think this is similar to the marketing that bosley does so there should be no cost...but a good thing to call and check. it does say free above (by OP/online)

They are only administering the exam to see if you are a viable candidate for LASIK. Like I posted above, the exam itself is free. They will not provide the exam results to you unless you pay for it ($90). You even have to sign a waiver waiving your right to the test results unless you pay for them. That being said, I was "lucky" because when I asked the medical assistant if there were changes in eye pressure or prescription, she said no. Of course, I have no way of knowing whether she is telling the truth because I didn't shell out the $90 for the exam results.
Nice find OP. However, the closest they have is in San Diego, CA and I'm in LA. bummer...

just went today. holy fuq. never again. they put some antrhax in my eyes and i couldnt read anything on my cell phone for 5 hours straight! the hell with this, they better give me my points. i would say this is definately more invasive than the bosley marketing ploy, they actually put crap in your eyes and all kinda junk. annoying like hell. not sure if this was worth the 5k miles... definately was annoying to deal with

LOL...you've never had dilating drops before? I have to do that annually just to re-up my contact lens Rx (state medical board requirement).
You'll find the shift key eventually, just give it some time.

Not available in Virginia, so oh well. But, for those that said you had it done, had it done at Lasik Plus, what did you pay? It won't give me prices on their website with out the free consultation and I wanted to know a ballpark figure for planning my FSA withholdings for next year. I mean, ballpark? $2000 or $10000? Did your insurance pay for it, any? I have pretty good vision, very mild glasses, no astigmatisms, just a little near sighted and the highway signs, movie subtitles and credits are getting a little blurry, . What did you have done and what did you pay?
Most (ethical) places expect you to have a "stabilized prescription" for X number of years before they'll do it. If you've only got minor myopia and your Rx is still changing, you're probably not a candidate.
The reputable places in our medical-heavy city are about $2k per eye, with the "assembly line shops" going for half that much, sometimes less.
For me, I'd have to REALLY hate contacts, because my payback period is a few decades. I don't mind contacts that much <-- ouch, got something in my eye

My glasses havent changed in the last couple of years. But what I do notice more now is that if I forget my glasses, don't have them, my vision is blurrier (is that a word?). Used to, I could take or leave my glasses. Now, I think I need them. But Rx is the same and things look great with them. Maybe my eyes have just gotten used to them!
I can't wear contacts. Even the breathable ones. My eyes are too sensitive to the solutions, even saline. And, my eyes start growing extra blood vessels around the contact to try to get the air that the contact is blocking. So, if i even wear them for a couple of hours, the center of my eye, under the contact around the iris is bright white, healhty eyeball. But, if you pull my lid up or out or down, it is beet-red all around there, way back into the eye. I tried for 6 months, wtih 2 different brands and my doctor won't even let me try them any more. It took over a year for the blood vessels that grew in to recede.
For $2-4k, that isnt bad, really. For being able to see at all times.
Just came back from the appointment. It took the full 90 minutes. Not too painful but I am actually interested in it. I wouldn't have gone without the promotion. I was quoted about $3500 total with the discount for having insurance. Has anyone comparison shopped? Is this a good deal based on price? Has anyone gone through Lasik plus. I would be interested to hear peoples opinions.

I received 5000 miles early last month. You should have gotten a letter in the mail few weeks after your LASIK exam, you will need to sign the letter and send it back to them in order for them to post the miles to your account.

For those that followed up with a phone call, what was the number? Thanks in advance
Finally posted on 1/12. NOTE that when they post that the activity will be dated with the exam date....so if you fly a lot then you might not see the miles given that they could be 'buried' after numerous other account activity.
Here is the Delta/Lasik contact person. Name is Marilyn and phone is 404 715 9312
